company needs work

The most 'stiff' organization I have worked in. The culture is different from anything I've experienced, not really in a good way but hard to describe.
You are rated in a 1-5 system on a normal/bell curve along with your immediate coworkers. So, if you have an awesome team compared to the org and each perform exceptionally as an individual, well, you can't all be rated well come review time. That alone is a setup for culture failure. Employees perform relatively distinct functions - not apples-to-apples.
There are strings attached to benefits. Employees who receive relocation are tied to a year or else repay. They can grant you restricted stock, again vested. They will help with school, but you have to get your manager's 'permission' to enroll. Retirement match half UP TO total of 3% (with individual contribution of 6%).
Hiring team was not very willing to negotiate. I was not sure if I was being lied to and eventually concluded that I had probably been duped to some extent. My advice is play hardball and expect to walk away until they give you what you want.
No strong indications that management really wanted to be involved in making the day-to-day better. Lots of inefficiencies in that regard.
I am usually a strongly self-directed employee, once I know the overall goals. I can fill in the blanks fairly well and ask when I need help. All I really felt was that someone was always watching over my shoulder and breathing down my neck. Ick.
The company has expanded much through buying out other companies. Without integration discipline and a unified vision, there are various product lines completely disconnected from each other with regards to building space/equipment utilization. A real mess.
A lot of the employees are pleasant. The lunches are also good (catering company), but that may not be enough for everyone.

Management is extremely cheap. not focused on a collaborative spirit. Dog eat dog style of management. Training is non exist.
the Morrisville office is a rumor mill.

It was a job, but’s one f the people are dishonest
|
People that have been there for many years are a cancer who do not except new employees it is extremely cliquey. They keep things from the new people they are training because they are insecure in there job even though they’ve been there 20+ years. The thin films department is led by a woman who has know business working with other people, she is an angry, insecure, difficult and mean person.

Flexibility and nice Management

2 years of my Life at Macom and people still don’t know what exactly I do. I don’t either. Training is terrible. A place where Managment cater to experience people. I’m very disappointed in myself for being to nice and sticking around. I should have quit a year ago when my training just suddenly stop. The reason they gave me. COVID.

The Nashua office is mildly hostile with pro Republican semi racist comments by most, including management. They go through temps to try to save money and get rid of important people for the same reason. They also are banking on a project that doesn't work still.
