Where do I begin?
Management is awful. Unqualified people get positions they should not have and departments suffer because of it. If you are liked by someone in power, chances are you can move up to a position that you are under qualified/unfit to fill. Internal candidates do not have equal or fair shots as External candidates. Northfield does NOT believe in their employees.
Compensation is not competitive and I’m being generous with my choice of words. There is no bonus structure, and raises are a joke. While executives get paid generously, the rest of the bank starves.
If compensation is a joke, benefits are the laughing stock. This bank will be excited to announce they provide pet insurance, but in 2023, they have yet to even have a maternity policy in place. This means that the company you work for basically will drop you in the most sensitive moment in your life and hang you out to dry. You are at the mercy of the State and their time frame- meaning it could take months for you to get paid a portion of your salary. If that means you and your newborn have to starve until then, so be it. It is not in Northfield Bank’s interest that you survive. Keep that in mind and in perspective.
This is an outdated company that uses outdated software and equipment with an antiquated mindset. If you are under the age of 40 with any type of goals or hopes for your professional life do yourself a favor and run from here.
This Company is a joke. The old, white men and women in charge are a joke. There is no growth or life here.

Northfield is one of the worst places I’ve ever worked.
- They do not value internal candidates, you apply for internal positions and always get a “no” as answer. The same happened to some of my coworkers, they tried applying for open job positions and the answer is always no.
- There’s no room for growth, they always hire from outside and don’t give internal candidates an opportunity.
- The maternity leave is terrible, they don’t even have a policy in place for maternity leave. If you are a woman who is planning on having children, this is not the place for you.
- It’s a very sexist place, there’s a lot of mansplaining and gaslighting.
- No bonus structure and no career plan, at the end of the year they buy pizza, hire a photobooth and say “thank you for your hard work”.
- They do not value their employees. In an attempt to look cool they plan these silly office parties / contests and it’s embarrassing to say the least.
- Management is a joke. A lot of unprepared people in high positions, and when you complain to HR they brush it off.
- Toxic work environment, if you complain about something they retaliate.
- The culture is VERY old fashion, they are not welcoming of suggestions.
- The computers and softwares used are very old and outdated.
- They don’t offer training even when you ask for it.
If you can avoid working here, you should.

- Bonus, people like monetary compensation. We have bills to pay and dreams to achieve.
- PLEASE, invest in management training. Most of your managers are extremely unprepared.
- Technology, it’s 2023 please buy new computers and better softwares.
- Give internal candidates opportunities, offer them training and hire internally. You need to believe in your own employees.
- PLEASE, create a maternity leave policy. It’s embarrassing that in 2023 you don’t have something GOOD in place.
- Give the men some training about being sexist in a workplace, this is a huge liability to the bank.

Very little training is given to new employees, and most employees do not know what they are doing/are not familiar with policies and procedures. Technology is outdated, difficult to use and prone to breaking down. Excessive micromanaging. Managers boss employees around despite not knowing what they themselves are required to know.
