Nikola is an interesting company, the management is constantly changing but the product does not. Place is like a revolving door and many people leave because employment is not stable here. There is lots of changes in management and you get moved around a lot, random mass layoffs, forced resignations and firings, not stable if you have a family or want to learn real skills in automotive.

This Company has above average pay for the area and decent benefits.

Lots of workplace drama and nothing gets done. This is because there are way too many cumbersome and antiquated processes to get anything done. It is all bureaucracy and zero engineering. This place is a mess, it seems that Nikola has no interest in becoming profitable or innovating in house.

- Nikola was not transparent with working hours. During my interview I was told it would be 8 hours with possibility of overtime. Once I came on it was mandatory 10 with other employees working more and even travel. Those who do not volunteer overtime are "laid off" in the next layoff and they keep track of everyone with the large amount of cameras and badging system.
-Lots of throwing under the bus aka the "truck". Just prepare yourself to always be the person that did something wrong, if they do not like you they will say you are being unsafe even if what you did had nothing to do with safety. If another supervisor or engineer has an opinion on how you're working they will make an example of you. Favorite employees get away with actual dangerous acts that almost get people seriously injured and incidents are never reported to actual safety.
-A percentage of employees are cut if they want to make the product better or offer suggestions when asked, this is a trick by Nikola to get rid of what they consider to be pessimists.
- Unrealistic expectations of how the product can be assembled or serviced.
- Directors and leads have little to no interaction with their teams and only show up to work when bigwigs are there, marketing events or layoffs.
- Lack of accountability from directors and lead engineers, those who make poor decisions, that make the company loose millions of dollars, stay in power at Nikola.
- Temperamental managers that punish & terminate irrationally without seeking information or providing training/mentorship with lots of public humiliation in front of teams.
- Zero clarity for growth within position and title, leading to many disgruntled employees that are provided no information on how to advance and grow their careers.
-Keep your opinions to yourself and your friendships elsewhere, Nikola has very divided teams with very clique culture and you never know who is who.
-Lots of lazy people that sit in meetings all day and do not contribute anything to better the product, process or company.

Engineers get raises, along with their leads meanwhile production teams get nothing for over a year. Since the massive layoff moral is terrible! You guys cut people we needed, trucks instantly had issues instantly after layoff as a result! Stop promoting lazy people at Nikola and listen to the geniuses.
