Very capable hardware engineering group. Great brand reputation. Strong market position (though eroding). Established channels. Most employees are quite personable.

Has only recently started to understand software development.
There are several software development groups, with little cooperation between them.
Poor, short-sighted decision-making by management. There is little technical background among the execs (and most of the board), yet they are reluctant to trust the guidance provided by those that do know..
Lots of pressure applied, normally focused on the wrong things, at the expense of what's really important.
A consistent pattern of
* badly underestimating risks,
* demanding unrealistic delivery schedules,
* and worse, dismissing any warnings given.
Plenty of poor performers on staff, many of who have been there forever.
Product management has little understanding outside of WiFi protocols and chipset selection, products are software-defined at this point,

If there's one single piece of advice, it's to heed Steven Covey's Habit #5: 'Seek first to understand, then to be understood'.
Streamline your engineering groups - merge the multiple software groups into one, under the CTO software. Sure, it makes sense to keep the market-specific marketing and product management organizations separate, but it's counter-productive to split your software development resources between them.
Your technical staff wants Netgear to succeed too, believe it or not. Try listening, and if there's a business aspect that contradicts their advice, then educate them about it. In other words, give them the context to propose innovative solutions that balance business and technical considerations for the best interests of Netgear.
Relieve the corporate IT dept of responsibilities for product cloud infrastructure. It requires a separate org populated with the right skills for product-supporting infrastructure. The current corp IT org hinders way more than it helps. Product IT is much closer to the skillsets of the Software Engineering department than corp IT. It should be part of the engineering org, not part of corp 'overhead'.
