Not a Great place to work
|
All over the place in terms of what they wanted done. No communication. They didn’t let employees out of the building during work hours. Even if you were clocked out for lunch.

No breaks, no sick days.
|
PetIQ is a profit first company, so much so they will go out of their way to make sure they give as little as possible. They will intentionally schedule you 7 hours (even though its usually 8 on a busy day with closing) just so they don't have to give you a lunch break, or any breaks.
There is a 10 point, yearly rolling, zero tolerance attendance policy. Being out for a day will get you 2 points, being late will get you 1. The policy has no clause for being sick, but the company will tell you to stay home if you have a fever and punish you for it anyway. They also expect you to go to a random location in your district (up to an hour away) every couple of months chosen by them for "mandatory training" that amounts to about an hour of work you already usually do, but as free services for other employees that they bill as a 'benefit'. That being said, you can bring your own pets for free services if you are willing to drive to the training with them.
Raises are a few cents a year, or you can earn a bit extra doing their certification programs that changed twice in the year I was there.
This company is good for getting your feet wet and seeing if you are interested in pet medicine or being a vet tech, but you will only learn the basics and almost no skills are transferable to a full service hospital, despite what they will tell you going in.
This review was written specifically about the vet tech assistant position in the wellness centers.

I started as an assistant manager and moved up the ranks to state manager; while all companies have their hiccups, PetIQ takes care of its managers with decent compensation and GREAT work life balance.

Drama drama drama
|
Basically what the title states. Full of drama and unfair pay. People quit left and right. Good for short term not long term. Unequal treatment from management, due to favoritism.

Great place of work
|
At PetIQ, I’ve learned so many things and met a lot of great people. This was one of many jobs I’ve had that truly cares for and accommodates their employees.

Great start
|
Honestly it’s a good way to get into the vet field and get some limited experience for decent pay. There are a lot of opportunities to get a raise or to learn more and build great relationships with vets and coworkers. I will say the days are typically pretty long and it’s typically just the weekends but then I have the whole week free.

Run, don't walk
|
Management procrastinates and forgets things all the time. There is a huge lack of communication and the office is SO disorganized and cluttered. There is no leadership, just "managers" winging it. It's quite a mess.
New hires are not told anything, have no training and go out into the field. You will be on your own in two weeks, turnover is high and this office is short staffed and will be for some time as more people are leaving. You will be working two stations and be paid for doing the work of one. Long days in uncomfortable cars. You won't know what your schedule is until the week of, so don't plan on having a life outside of work. No full time positions , only part time with no benefits.

Don’t walk, run from this company
|
They hire you with lots of promises, but this is a corporate practice at its worst and promises made during hiring regarding salary/raises, etc… are forgotten. DVMs are micromanaged and support staff is week (numerous bad hires that you would anticipate when meeting the interviewee, but the DVM opinion is never taken into consideration). Staff turnover is constant. Before Christmas, they closed about half of their hospitals without revealing to staff and doctors ahead of time that this was the plan. What a great way to start the holidays for so many! This company is incompetent at every level and regional managers are the worst. Lots of pressure to sell the poor quality products that the company produces (even though they’re available over the counter). This pressure is seemingly because they want vets to push their inferior products in attempts to give them legitimacy.

This place it’s absolutely terrible.
|
Bad customer service, and they will bring you down about anything and everything. Never again will I work there. Management sucks. The veterinarians are amazing but everything else was not. Only the veterinarians helped me. And if I could thank them again I would. But as for the supervisor absolutely not. Never again.
