The management is kind of incompetent and like to set unrealistic goals. No creativity is needed here. System always down, at least twice a week, dragging overall progress.

Lack of transparency
|
I didn’t have much faith that anything would be done if I brought up issues with leadership or ideas of improvement. The communication wasn’t that great and the amount of part shortages was strange considering how much product they tried to push out on a weekly basis. I never felt like I had good job security and whenever I asked questions about job security I was given a vague answer that never addressed my concerns. I worked hard for this company and left feeling like I had been taken advantage of. I genuinely enjoyed the work I was doing, but was never truly appreciated for it. Plexus seems to care more about how they can profit rather than how they treat their employees.

Good work environment but management needs work. Company layoffs were very common. Mandatory overtime when there was work which then leads to not having work for the foreseeable future.

Avoid or leave after two years
|
Days spent in meetings from 07:30 to 17:00, most days solid in meetings. Evenings is when you can get your actual work done. Managers who change frequently with different needs or expectations from micro-managing to so distant they have no clue what you do but they'll put needs improvement on your annual eval because everyone has something to improve on. In the past few years, our new management team has been poor, closing several design centers without notice and pulling everyone into a last-minute, mandatory meeting, to announce people we've worked with are gone and to work extra hard over the next few weeks while we all minimize the impacts to our customers. We've even had site layoffs, where they invited everyone to a meeting just to say those who are not in the room are no longer with Plexus. Those with 25+ years of experience with the company and those with 1yr with the company did not matter.

Wages have doubled in the eight years I have worked for Plexus.
Used to be very poorly paid and the management skills of some of the old school managers and line leads was very questionable.
Things have changed a little with younger more lenient managers and line leads and the old school culture is now slowly disappearing .
Wages have increased significantly and there's shift allowance, overtime, attendance and referral bonus available to top up your wages.
Other benefits include free private health care (which I've used to beat NHS waiting times), life insurance (3 x salary), pension and electric car lease scheme.
There's a subsided canteen (bacon rolls £1 and curry and rice £2.10).
Christmas party, summer barbecue, the occasional bonus and free fruit are also available.
Lot's of positions available at both the Kelso and Bathgate sites.

As an intern at Plexus Corp Malaysia, it really depends on what department you are. It can be quite hustle or relax. As an Electronics Manufacturing company, you are mainly on the process engineer role, ensuring the products hit the yield target, not really suitable for engineering students who not interested in manufacturing.

It provided me a good opportunity for entry level experience. Culture seemed to be ok, but lacked opportunity for professional growth. Most people I met ended up leaving for another opportunity not long after.
