Rapid7 overall is a very good employer

The entire Rapid7 company really tries to function as a big team. I sincerely believe that this is the aim of the company. Unfortunately, there problem with communications and share of information between teams. There also seems to be a problem with decisions being made and timelines set without consulting the teams that will have to do the work. So when there are decisions made by leadership, or changes are made by teams that impact other teams, it can often times result in unintended poor customer experiences.
Fortunately, there is not much finger pointing. Team managers jump in quickly to address the problem and push forward to "fix the issue" as soon as possible. There is also a willingness for people to help out even when it is not their responsibility. The people are really what make this company a success.

Secretive senior management team led to divided team at below
|
When I first joined the company, they informed us that no matter how difficult the economy situation, the company won’t lay off any staff. But it happened in august 2023 without having any valid reasons nor giving any hopes to staff to retain their position. Only the senior management team knew what happened before the CEO announcement. Really disappointed with the company. When the redundancy is announced, celebration continued for those interns who are leaving the company but it doesn’t care the feeling of those who are made redundant whether the celebration is appropriate. Very insensitive team.

Great culture, lots of transparency!

I have been working here for a year and a half and have had a great experience so far in terms of culture. Also I feel good about company transparency and the ability to make changes and shifts in order to avoid employee layoffs like most tech companies are doing right now. I feel like we are making most of the right moves financially to position us for growth and stability in this market.

Really great products. Thought leader in the space.
Your experience here will largely depend on your manager and territory. Some micromanage more than others but there’s not a top down approach w metrics that’s over bearing.
