Part of the crew that opened the Cascade location in Michigan. They hired 6 bartenders expecting a couple to drop off but none did creating a struggle to get hours/shifts but overall a good training program and management was decent and supportive on the floor. Host? Why not? Server / bar - run. Honestly, I could have handled the small section and poor tipping clients. It really is the lack of managing presence combined with no support whatsoever. No food runner, bussing staff, and one hostess. You do all the work for little tips becasue average customer only spends $10-$15. They don't care about your availability and will hire you and discard it. Best of luck. Go to Applebee's. No pros They dont listen to availability. They are NEVER on the floor. High tip out. The owner and all managers are very good people and have a passion for their brand and quality food in general. The atmosphere is great to bring your family in for a full course meal from the apps and salad's to a craft burger basket or Mac and cheese for the kids. The fries are made fresh daily and most sauce's and item's are from scratch. The bar side is a great place to relax and enjoy a Craft beer as well. I've meet some great people but overall, the company is laughable. It's hard to work for a company that is so unorganized and I faced rounds of store closings. It's not okay to just shut down store after store without giving your employees a heads up. I realistically understand that if we give them a heads up some will quit..but its shocking when you show up to work to see a sign on the door saying your closed and sucks to suck..you no longer have a job. There were great managers at this company, but the ones that were bad..made for a toxic work environment. The GM's don't deal with problems at all. If something was said about a manager, said manager would hold grudges against an employee and then spend time spreading rumors about them. Staffing was a huge issue always with us. Most of the nights you will NOT have a host. Simply because they cannot afford to keep a host on the clock. Typically during the week we'd only have two or three servers on which made it difficult. There are also one manager for the shift and at my restaurants they were always stuck in the kitchen. So running food, seating guest, ringing in orders, busting tables..thats all on you.
