It honestly depends on your team and manager. I was not happy with the either of the teams I had. Very snobby girls. Managers are nosy about your personal lives and your manager will be the sole factor in whether or not you're moved up. Plus there's a lot of tenured who go first. Pay is not great. Work is easy. So many employees have had wonderful experiences there because they were under great management who WANTED to help their employees grow. But in many cases you get stuck with bad management, like I did. I had the WORST experience working there. I was never able to leave on time and I had the worst manager, who was best friends with the our particular market manager and they ADMITTED to doing things to employees they didn’t like just to drive them out. Unfortunately I was one of those employees and I have no idea what I ever did wrong. Thankfully, after I left HR did something about it and those two had been separated, and finally the manager just quit. But let me tell ya, Southside in general does not care about employees or customers. Often times when there was an issue with a customer the question was, “how much money do they have with us?” And that determined how they were taken care of. Go to Chase, or another bank, before working here. You’ll get paid SO much more. Oh, and lunches are only 30 minutes. Some may not care but I personally hated that. They are a great team. They show you everything that needs to be learned and they go step by steps in how you would do it. We always worked as a team and the management I experienced were amazing. They were easy to work with and they helped us out a lot. The company is stable overall but the management is very narrow . Managers micro manage and do not appreciate employees work . One man show. They do not have diversity that they clam. manager look down on employees and talk behind them. Enjoyable work environment with great benefits.The environment at Southside was overall good. They just want everyone’s money. Tellers get extremely low raises once a year. Managers do whatever they want and rarely ever work or help. Older employees cut corners and then blame it on someone else.
