Starting pay is fair and all branch environments are typically pleasant and charming. Management at the Midland Park branch where I worked specifically are unprofessional and purposefully intimidating when an issue arises with an employee. I had been at Atlantic Stewardship Bank for about 3 months as a new teller when I went on a vacation. If you have ever been a teller, chances are you will make some mistakes with teller box balancing. Before I had gone on vacation, my teller box seemed to check out and I had as much money in the box as I was supposed to. I was not aware that I had a false prove, which basically means I had genuinely thought I had the correct amount of money in my box when I actually didn't. This is an accidental mistake that obviously any bank teller, myself included, takes responsibility for. What was unacceptable was the bank management's reaction to it. I was sat down, treated like a criminal and asked to prove that I did not take the money missing and use it on my vacation. Taken aback and never put in that kind of situation before, I did not know what to say or do when they threatened to call the police if I did not admit to what they were accusing so that it could be resolved internally. I was not about to admit wrongdoing for something that I did not do, so I managed to compose myself despite the traumatic experience and denied their heinous and unprofessional allegations. I was brought into the President's office in the branch and was told they would be checking the cameras and I insisted that they do. Very obviously, they found nothing incriminating and, to save face, they suspended me for 3 days and then let me go. It is embarrassing to be so crooked as a business that you are willing to intimidate an employee into admitting to a crime they didn't commit just so you can feel powerful and right. To anyone thinking about working here, be weary because you never know when you will be accused out of the blue of committing a crime just because you made a mistake many new tellers make. I was a teller at this financial institution for more than 2 years but less than 6. High management makes tons of promises that they cannot keep. Promised promotions and ways to expand my career but was ultimately "forgotten" because there was no room for expansion. The teller training program was taught very well and easy to learn and understand. There are no cons that I can think of.
