Prepare to be worked to burn out.
|
This job was incredible at first, the queues were calm and we were able to focus and get work done. Then an update was released for the pump, and we went from calm, normal days to absolute chaos in the blink of an eye. 100+ calls waiting at all times of the day, back to back calls non-stop with people upset that they had to wait in long queues for a device that essentially keeps them alive, and most of the time the patients would take it out on you. So many of the employees are burnt out right now, and management doesn't care. The most that was done when the burn-out was brought up to upper management was an email saying "thanks guys, good luck," even when the problems tech support were attempting to fix were Tandem's fault to begin with. They released an update for the app that affected the pump's battery, and they refused to let patients know in any capacity and expected tech support to just deal with the overflow of calls.
The management here is all talk, there's no support but they seemed to be just as overworked as everyone else. Upper management here is a huge problem, and I hope for the sake of the workers here and the patients something is done about it soon. But as it stands, this is not a good place to work unless you're okay with taking non-stop back to back calls with impatient people fixing a high-tech peice of a equipment over the phone.

Overwhelming and fast burn out
|
I initially loved working here but as time went on I became increasingly overwhelmed with the call volume. Sitting at your desk for almost 9 hrs a day taking back to back calls gets old fast. Meeting metrics is doable but quickly became another factor to discourage me as everything I did essentially was “graded” or scored. You’d mainly only receive communication if you messed something up. It would often be frustrating to have several customers call in complaining about the same problem that the company had been aware about, but didn’t know when it would be resolved. Customers tend to take things out on you for things beyond your control.

Would have been my dream job if they didn't go woke.
|
Fabulous job, I was one of their best tech support agents for 3 years, collected a team of kudos from patients and coworkers alike. Should have retired there but for a single individual who didn't like my sense of humor. And in this days woke world, that was grounds for termination without warning.

Great culture and products but the pay is not good.
|
Limited opportunities to grow since there are so many employees and the competition is greater. We dont get paid enough for the amount of work we are doing.

Amazing Place to start a Career
|
Tandem is a great place to start a career, if you can make it through the interview process and training then you’re golden. Tandem is a huge company that actually acts like a small family. In all the places I have gained employment throughout the past, I’ve never worked for a company like Tandem. I handle tech support issues for Pump users daily and WFH (Work from home) which is a huge advantage. No need to travel daily to and from. Tandem provides your work equipment and you just need to provide your hard wired internet service-they also give you a monthly internet stipend as well towards this through your paycheck.
This company truly does care and is making revelations in the Diabetic pump community. You have access to Management daily throughout Microsoft Teams and everyone is very friendly and accommodating. You do have to have a caring personality and enjoy the help you give daily. There’s no greater feeling, like a customer calling in who is worried about something happening with their pump and then you being able to correct that issue(s) by the end of the call.
Career advancement is great as well, if you meet your metric goals over a three month period and based on company needs you can start advancing quickly. I started my journey with Tandem in July 2023 and by Feb 2024 I already received my first promotion. Everyone is always willing to help lend a hand if you have a question or concern and overall I couldn’t have found a better company to start a career with. Working at Tandem is NOT just another job, it’s a journey to a very rewarding career.

Great culture
|
Great inside culture to work for. People and managers seem to be attentive and care. I will say some deff IT work is involved much more than just basic answering the phones.

Meh
|
If you need a job and talking to annoying old people all day long doesn't drive you insane, then... it's a job. Company will make major changes and release major products and product updates without any notice to you as an employee. You'll just come in one day to find out that some major thing dropped and every customer and their grandma has been emailed telling them to call in. Joyous.
