Love the work place, it’s an amazing work environment and your coworkers are almost always the best, the only complaints I have are due to the vip and magazine sign-ups. Thats a standard schedule for all associates. Within a year, I was promoted to part time assistant manager, and then after another year, I was promoted to senior assistant manager. During the 4 years I worked there, I had 6-7 different store managers. They would either get abruptly fired or would be sick of the job and leave, which left me as the active store manager until they found a new one, sometimes lasting 6+ months, will no additional pay. The stores are constantly understaffed, with one opening manager, a closing manager, and an associate working 6-9 pm. And I worked in a fairly large store, so trying to get anything done and help customers is impossible. Corporate is awful. Their only care is about saving money and selling memberships. Your entire job depends on how many memberships, magazine subscriptions, warranties, reservations and emails you get every day. Their expectations are ridiculous sometimes and very unreasonable. The company puts their focus primarily on planners and fixture placement. They give each store a plan-o-gram, and expected to have it be 100% accurate or get chewed out, even though most of the time the store won't have the correct supplies or items needed to fill it. Your store WILL get surprise visits sometimes once a week, and occasionally at the worst times when there are a lot of customers in the store and they will criticize everything, from a fixture thats crooked, a few unfolded shirts (even though its the middle of the day with customers shopping), to a light thats out. relatively good chance of promotion, smaller size retail stores, work is pretty easy for the most part 1 30 minute break per 8 hours, unrealistic sales expectations, pay, constantly criticized for things you can't control, barely any hours per week, no benefits unless senior or store manager, very little flexibility with schedule, corporate, basically train yourself 0.0 0.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 Jan 13th, 2021 12:20PM Mar 20th, 2021 01:03PM Trans World Entertainment Consumer Services General Retailers

I am currently traveling with the company opening new stores, and that alone has been such an amazing experience. Though my store had to close, I was offered a way out, which most companies haven’t honored severance pay, sick time or vacation time since the epidemic started. They tried to relocate me, due to it being across country I declined, though I am still currently on a the job training new management in other states. Management on a store level was good. Upper management terrible, disrespectful and rude to lower level associates. Flexible with school hours. You get to listen to pretty much whatever you want and watch whatever you'd like. However, the upper management is horrible. They have completely unrealistic ideas about what the job is and the numbers they want.
