What is the best part of working at the company?
The people and culture were awesome at first, everything has changed for the worse though.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The new culture of performing tasks outside of your role as quickly as possible with no incentive.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful. High turnover, lay off's and early retirements depleted the knowledge base, those left behind are in a huge hole trying to make up the deficit.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Daily standup, find out what got reported over night that needs fixed right away.

Company culture deterioration
|
Long term employee here - claims dept - , recently left voluntarily. This was a good company for many years but when new CEO/Sr Management came on it all changed. In the past year there has been extraordinary turnover, workloads have become untenable, the labyrinth of policies, procedures, reports, and overall minutae has rendered the job impossible. Overall the pay appears to be approx 20-25% less than competitors for equivalent positions. They profess work/life balance but that is impossible considering the work load resulting from turnover and ridiculous procedural requirements. HO managers can't get past their own egos and can be very difficult to work with. chief claims officer has not actually ever worked in claims.

big company, lots of training/education available for newer people. decent benefits.

too many to list. I would not recommend working here.

Peers are great. Company not so much.
|
The culture has gone way down of the last few years. This company used to be a GREAT place to work not so much any more. Too much taking an not enough giving.
Also way too many VP's and hired recently.

Not what it used to be
|
Went from a great place to be to dark, frustrating, over burdened place. Must do more with less people. Especially after layoffs. Plenty of management though to monitor that instead of actually helping though.

People are great, company not so much
|
I love the office environment. The company has huge visions with unrealistic time tables. Too many changes and nobody has authority to make decisions. Poor bonus structure and don't pay well vs competitors. I can't recommend starting there at this time.

I felt appreciated and needed until the new CEO came in and started his agenda

What is the best part of working at the company?
They had good benefits but that may have changed since they’re losing money fast
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The new CEO that started mid-2022 started increasing the expectations to levels impossible to obtain, and told us the pay and bonuses hinged on each of us meeting those expectations. Eight of the 38 employees in ky department have since left.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I worked remotely so all was fine for me
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It varied; I received work orders electronically with set deadlines and I worked from home some days and traveled on other days, staying nights at hotels as needed. A 70 hour work week was normal in order to meet the set expectations

Worked with some wonderful individuals. Overall a good company but they allow new employees to be bullied by long term employees who may be intimidated or jealous.

As a smaller company this place used to value people. No more as mindset has changed and mgmt thinks its a big time insurance company. So more hierarchy amongst the big shots while regular employees are considered disposable and incompetent anyway. Sad to see.

Lots of changes

Lots of changes in 2022. CFO left and went to a competitor. Both the CEO and COO retired within months of each other. Lots of restructuring over the past few years. Lots of cross training across the branches, and supervisors can be out of your region. Company is trying to cut overhead costs by having underwriters handle large territories in some that they are not familiar with.
