It was amazing at first but things slowly went downhill. It's very drama filled and competitive and the manager definitely picks favorites. I personally wouldn't work there again after my experience, i left in tears.

You constantly get sent home 3-4 hours into your shift. The clerks are very unprofessional and they are way too strict with numbers. Even at 95% prod you’ll get talked to for not doing enough.

Working at Ulta was one of my favorite jobs. The team was very unproblematic and we were all really close. Breaks were always taken on time, I have no complaints.

Best retail job I've had but still had some challenges
|
This was the best job experience I've had working in retail. Don't get me wrong, it is still retail and you'll deal with difficult customers occasionally. However, the team I worked with made work enjoyable to come to. It was almost always a fun environment and it's hard to not become friends with your co-workers. The biggest reason for my departure was the lack of pay increase and hours available. I was there for a year and remained a cashier for majority of the time. Was never upgraded to a lead or offered pay increase. I'd voiced that I felt I performed better on the actual salesfloor when able to help guest locate items or shade match (and this was true, customers would ask to compliment me to my manager all the time). Unfortunately, I was still almost always put on register and heavily encouraged to sell the credit card program, which was quite annoying to be honest. That's another issue at Ulta. They force that on you often - like every hour of every shift. You are recorded on how many cards you do/do not get each day, as well as daily loyalty sign-ups.

Deleted and added shifts at random. Scheduled you for the worst hours like 4am-12pm or 6am-1pm so you had to come dressed “business casual” at 4am to look good for customers at 10am. Super rude coworkers. Managers play favorites. They treat you like children and you get in trouble for not getting credit cards. You come into work and they expect you to know where you go. Not enough walkies so most of the time you’re just wandering doing tasks. The only good thing was the pay that was above minimum
