Basic job, nothing difficult, micro management, gossip, dishonesty, if you are not in the right click you will have a hard time staying. Low expectations unless you are a hard worker then you are expected to handle the slack from others lack of effort. Poor management of issues that arise, everything will be blamed on you if you question anything. Double standard for what policies are enforced. Leaders with No leadership skills or knowledge of product or process. Look else where for a job unless you can just come in and put your head down and do what your told.

Good people, bad management
|
Great people there, but upper management definitely doesn't care about their employees. You can find a good boss, but it's pretty toxic there. Benefits are continually getting cut, and the pay is not competetive at all. There is high turnover due to that, so you'll find that if you are there with lots of experience, newer employees will come in at the same pay rate because the company is desperate. Then they won't even give you an action plan on how you can prove yourself, as there is a boys club mentality. It's a decent place to start out, but don't expect to be there long.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Certain people. In my time with Varex I made some decent true friends. There are alot of petty, shady people as well that would stab you in the back for their own gain though.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management, the micromanagement, the politics. The dishonest, petty people that would stab their own family in the back to get ahead. They let go of anyone good at the company or push them to the point they quit. Would never recommend tots company to anyone. If you want a production job this isn't the best company to look at. There are plenty of others that pay much better and to my understanding are much better to work for and they actually care about the employees not just money and numbers. Varex makes parts for medical equipment that can help to find cancers, etc and save lives and it used to be quality over quantity but not anymore. They go against their own work instructions to get things out sooner, pinch pennies to save money but then lose customers. If the CEO and upper management doesn't need millions a year then the company would be in a much better place. It truly needs an complete redo and to start over with new management the cares more.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, petty drama. Backstabbing. Political at least in the Flat Panel area. Have heard the Tube side is better to work for as they have different management running that side, other than the CEO of course.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depended on the day.
Some were no work, if you had PTO you were going home early or you could take unpaid if you had the hours. They would have no work then make people work the weekend to get stuff for the next week ahead and then the next week would have no work for the employees. They don't know how to run that area for anything. Implement processes before they knew for sure that it would actually work the way they wanted it to.

Routine workday, I learned ways to lead others by example ans caring and respect.management is understanding and cared the hardest thing was the radiation which was regulated but still I didn't like the thought of working around it and being pregnant the pay is good the most enjoyable about the job

Good schedule and work life balance

Working schedule is the best part, weekdays with 8am-5pm daily schedule. You definitely have time to spend with your family during weekends. The manufacturing operation is dayshift only.
