nyse:aep www.aep.com www.aep.com Jun 25th, 2019 12:00AM IT Manager – Customer CIS Applications Open Jun 20th, 2019 12:00AM This role is being posted in a range and the offer will be made based on the candidates' qualifications.***Internal applicants who are already in one of these grades this will be considered a lateral move.**Position Summary:“Together, with our customers” are the first four words of AEP’s mission.  This illustrates how fundamental this relationship is to our future and the importance of integrating it into everything we do.  Customer focus has long been one of our four core values, though now our mission statement’s first four words reflect the importance of collaboration in that relationship.  Customer interviews have taught us that: Customers see AEP as the expert to lead; however, customers want to be included in the process to understand how we can work together.  Every time a customer interacts with an employee (directly or indirectly) or through our systems, it creates an experience.  AEP is laser focused on improving that experience for every customer. AEP has embarked on a journey to improve the systems and processes used internally to support our customers, and externally to interact directly with them.  The IT Customer Application Delivery Manager (ADM) is a critical role that will lead a team to deliver software applications that support our Customer business operations. Working with minimal supervision in an Agile environment, the IT ADM will coach and mentor a team of technical professionals delivering approximately $3M in capital project work annually.  The main application they are accountable for is the core Customer Information System (CIS) – a mainframe application that handles all of the transactions and billing to support AEP’s 5 Million customers.  The successful candidate will inspire the team to deliver business value at a predictable rate and with the highest of quality.  The IT ADM must be a highly collaborative, globally-minded, data driven self-starter able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.  The IT Manager is expected to possess a wide set of skills including strong analytics, high touch communication, ability to navigate a large complex organization and help the team by removing impediments and roadblocks.  The Manager has responsibility for staffing, oversight of the projects, accountability for testing strategies, oversight of technical practices including pair programming, test driven development, coaching, continuous integration and continuous deployment as well as adherence to standards and policies.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to assess the maturity of a team and help them create a culture and a strategy focused on continuous improvement against an agile maturity model.  This team is responsible for medium to long-term assignments of significant complexity and/or budgetary, strategic, or operational impacts.  Responsibilities include decision making, risk assessment, task prioritization/assignment/tracking, project assignment, employee development, performance feedback, motivation, team building, communication, planning, resource allocation, cost control, problem/issue/conflict resolution, customer service, and client relations. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from senior manager.  The Manager will partner with peer Managers in support of the overall Customer Application portfolio – this is a highly collaborative role which requires excellent communication skills.Principal Accountabilities: Ensure IT application projects and maintenance activities deliver value to AEP operating companies and business unitsEnsure ongoing reliability of the Information Technology infrastructurePrioritize and direct area work activities, and optimize utilization of resourcesLead and/or direct business continuity planning and disaster recovery for Information Technology as neededBuild and foster business relationships and represent the IT organization when collaborating with Operating Company and Business Unit leaders, external partners, suppliers and vendorsProvide financial leadership, including strategic forecasting and planning and establishing and managing departmental O&M and capital budgetsDevelop high-performing teams and future AEP leadersCoach and guide employees, and provide opportunities for career growthProvide training opportunities for employees to learn and share knowledge, strengthen skills, and deepen and broaden technical and professional capabilities; ensure that all employees are well-trained, knowledgeable, enabled and focused on the success of the company.Establish and maintain an open and collaborative environment that promotes safety, accountability, engagement and continuous improvement within and throughout the Information Technology organization.Provide corporate compliance leadership and accountability for NERC CIP, Physical and Cyber Security, Ethics, Corporate Policies, etc., without exception.
