Lots of fakeness here. If you play the game you'll be promoted. If you're an individual in anyway they'll get rid of you. So many managers here. More managers than employees and they are not good managers. Ive never seen such a top heavy org. They spend an ungodly amount of money on travel and parties. They are sales driven at all costs. There is no work life balance. CEO is way out of touch with younger workforce. Laying off in the US so he can hire cheaper in India. This is yet another technology company trying to pass as a start up to avoid real compliance & processes. It's a chaotic orange mess.

Pay and benefits are decent

Lack of policies and procedures, Promotions are based on favouritism and not skill, CEO has little to no connection to his employees he is all about sales and customers, He doesn't get that if you put your employees first, the rest takes care of itself

Some teams have excellent managers others have horrible managers who are hiding the fact they know nothing. If you land on the first group you’ll enjoy the job/company. If you land on later group it’s toxic & horrific with no path for change.

Avalara provides a happy, work friendly environment that I was happy to visit everyday. Leadership treated us like people and not just numbers.

A typical work day is 15-20 technical support calls. These can range from tax return set up, to errors in QuickBooks. The reason is always changing when that phone rings. I learned TONS of technical skills. Workplace culture is as impressive as they come. The hardest part of the job was remembering what system is needed for what issue. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that you aren't alone! Even when you get those calls that you don't have the answers for, someone else does. Avalara provides loads of Subject Matter experts and mentors that are there for you whenever you need them.

This was a cool company to work for until we had to go remote for Covid. Some team restructuring happened and truly a lot of the managers got lazy in my view. Last I heard they sold and laid off a lot o employees so I'd be wary for job security.

Decent pay. A lot of work so expect 50-70 hours weekly. If you can take initiative, learn quickly from the best, and be willing to network, you’ve accomplished half the battle. Benefits are good.
