I worked for this company back in 2011; I was also working for a cleaning company and that was who my customers were and luckily I lived in such a small town that people wanted me to sell to them. It was really easy work but I only stuck with it for me to save up enough to get air plane tickets and most of that was spent on products they have turning into a vicious cycle. I learned that the people above really don't care about you and it's a dog eat dog world. I thought I had made friends with my coworkers but when I left they cut ties with me which stung.

Good money. Bad everything else. Managers are lazy and egotistical, some even seem to enjoy belittling others and making their work life harder. No recognition for outstanding work/effort, hardly any opportunity for progression as employee retention is not a priority. Overall if you can keep to yourself, do the work and not expect to make friends it’s bearable but definitely not ideal.

I used to sell Avon as my main source of income. We purchase the supplies we need to do our work. Customers started purchasing items elsewhere. Costs kept rising while commissions dropped. More and more items were 'licensed' products, which means the representatives make about half of what they would on Avon core line items. I had to sell over twice as much to make the same commissions. The shortages were more and more frequent. You do not make commission on anything until you deliver it. When $500 or more in items were on back order, no earnings were made that campaign at all for those orders. This happened way too often for my comfort. Avon also spread out in many different branches of goods and the overall company has changed in ways I do not like, so I went back to working a conventional job.
I have had some wonderful customers, and I have had some miserable ones who literally asked me to leave their orders and they would pay me in two weeks! I never did, and those customers were very angry. Demonstration products changed every campaign so there were new items to show to customers. We were not expected to purchase these; but you have nothing to show if you don't buy at least some of these items.
I definitely learned that I do not ever want to work a commission-based job again. You cannot count on minimum earnings!
