What is the best part of working at the company?
Company benefits are pretty good. They seem to do a great job at hiring a diversity of people - not just diversity of ethnicity and race and gender - but a true diversity of life and business experiences. Some of your co-workers might have been a meteorologist or a helicopter pilot or a small business owner before joining BAH.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depending upon who your line managers are and what your project is you could get very little support or information
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It totally depends upon who your Career Manager (CM) is and what your project is. It could be great or, as in my case, it was not great because of a project that had very little data and very little support in getting the data. The project was very circular and never ending with 81 iterations of the same Tableau dashboard with extremely minor tweaks and adjustments each time. No one ever wanted to put a bow on it so it kept being sent back to me with a different color/font/heading/punctuation. Frustrating and stressful in the extreme
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mine was totally remote. Start at 8:30. Check emails. Begin working on compiling data and making additional changes to the dashboard. Usually worked until 5:00 - 5:30 but there was flexibility. One of the oddities and annoyances was that you had to record your time at the end of each day - how many hours you worked. And your timecard had to be approved each pay period. It always seemed as though someone was watching over your shoulder.

Great people, most secure work is in DC though

Great people and good management. People working in DC area have lots of options for projects. In Boston, it was more limited. Good benefits - health insurance was really good for my family. 401K match required you be employed on the last day of the year so I saw some people lose out when they worked almost all of the calendar year but left before the end.

It's a great place to work. If you want to move up you'll need to put in the extra hours for hiring event and other company functions outside of whatever contract hyou are working.

Let toxic leaders stay in the organization, hard to implement change with partnership model.

Hard to come in as an outsider and become an insider. Not a partnership organization anymore but still active and structure like one. Hardest part was the toxic work environment. Spent lots of time worrying about perfecting slides and presenting things and less time on the actual work product.

They provide good benefit along with reasonable pay. Your promotion depends on your extra contribution to the firm rather than duty performance. if you do your job 120% but do not perform any extra duty(firm task), you may stay in same position for a long time.

No upward growth opportunities

When I was first hired, I was told alot of things regarding opportunities for advancement and professional development. As time went on, I was told that there would be something happening that would lead me into a position of more responsibility by several senior leaders on the program. Well after a year plus, there has been zero change and every opportunity to move forward or get ahead, has ended in the same position. Unless you are a part of the "click" there is not room for upward mobility and you will remain in your current position till you quit.
