Badger Meter is very proud of it's stability. They always show off the fact that they have never had to lay anyone off in the last 100 years or something like that.

Being a manufacturing company a lot of things will move slower here. Your raises will likely move slower and in addition your work life will likely move slower. From my perspective it is a medium sized manufacturing company that might be hard to climb in.

There was good camaraderie with other employees. I enjoyed learning about the product and working with employees from numerous backgrounds and skill sets.
|
I was bullied and belittled by tenured staff. I would be put on projects just to have them taken away and redone by other coworkers. Any input I had was ignored and undervalued. I was in multiple meetings, some including vps where my “hand was slapped” and was not given the proper knowledge or resources to be successful and grow. Instead of helping me Grow and telling me how I can improve they told me what I was doing wrong constantly. I was made to feel that my skill set is not valued at Badger Meter. I also had a very light workload because of that, and was constantly bored. Upper management was aware that I was being mistreated not correct it. I was overall not valued as an employee. They also change their PTO structure and it is not competitive. Pay was meh.

Stop being cheap and make necessary improvements to staffing and work spaces. I needed less oversight and more trust to do my job with the skill set I have. I moved on to a much better company where I am free to use my skills. This smart goal structure implemented is awful and does nothing but hurt your overall turnover and retention. I don’t need a weekly check ins to go over my list of things to do.

The average tenure of employees seems to be rated in decades instead of individual years. In my time here I have seen several people retire with 30 or 40 years with the company. The company is also a perfect size, around 2500 global employees, that is large enough to provide stability, but small enough to enact change without getting bogged down in bureaucracy. There are many opportunities available across different functional teams allowing career growth and diversity. They are very flexible about moving to new roles within the organization.

The biggest area for improvement is training. Many entry roles do not have a dedicated training program and is more "learn on the fly" or by asking questions of peers.
