She would do things like criticize us for helping non-english speakers (very common in the area) reset their app and say they needed to use the phone number or the reset prompts. There were no options other than english though, so we never understood how that was supposed to work. Also, the equipment was so terrible that it actually interfered with performance ability daily. IT dept and Human Resources were not responsive. However, the pay was decent and it had fantastic business hours. Can be in top 50 of 625 traditional branch managers and get fired for non-sense, made up stories. But others are worse and get to keep jobs. I was planning on retiring from Citizens than blindsided losing my job as a manager in front of customers and all my co-workers. No warnings, verbal's prior to this day. I had over 6 regional managers within my time. Watched over 8 managers leave in my area. I was one of the lowest paying managers due to worked there so long. But new hires with no banking skills making over 8k a year more than me. I stayed because I was comfortable and had a good branch with wonderful customers and co-workers with-in my branch. One time I got wrote up because one person was on a final and left, One went to be a police officer, and another to go work in his career after being a college graduate. My main problem you can be the top in region for years and get over looked for growth, All about favoritism. One thing after I was let go, I was able to get off my blood pressure and anxiety medication. Plan on being stressed to the max. Just another Wells Fargo sales pressured position. Immense pressure from management to produce checking accounts/saving accounts in low economic areas to people who can’t afford the hidden fee’s eating away at their income. Literal emails of celebration when people open checking accounts and savings accounts. Performance Improvement plans if you’re not reaching goals during 30-60-90 day reviews. As if it’s 2006. Revolving door, always new coworkers because the sales pressure starts from your teller all the way to the branch manager. No good training, they hired and promoted a large amount of people only to demote them/fire new hires months later even while we were already understaffed to cut costs. I have to admit, I'm lucky to work with the manager I have. The culture there is welcoming and colleagues are very encouraging. However, like most customer service jobs, it's much better if you have thick skin. Here are the pros: pto,benefits,product line, digital channels, company growth, colleague recognition. I think one of their obstacles in my opinion is staffing. Ever since they changed our staffing model it is hard to find coverage, especially banker coverage. Most branches only allow for 1 banker. With no float pool for coverage on occasion branches have had to close or go without a banker. They also did away with the ABM role so sometimes there is little clarity of who is in charge when a manager is not there. With the elimination of the ABM role and very little management turnover it makes it almost impossible as a banker to step up unless they want to get out of retail banking. Even then with Covid now under control what was once remote/ hybrid positions are now back in office so to take advantage you have to be willing to move or have a long commute. Even when things do open such as peer mentoring for new branches management colleagues always get first dibs to volunteer again not allowing for more experience and growth for other colleagues. On a positive note they did change our incentive plan AGAIN. This time it’s a team goal as opposed to individual so it has been motivating to have us all working together to accomplish something. While the goals are still astronomically high I see the Team plan as a great change. If you are a self motivator, like to make money, love helping people find solutions to meet their financial goals then this is the job for you. The pay and benefits are super nice Bit of a retention problem in my time there, often never having enough workers at any location especially to help train new employees. Management is a different story there… just know HR works for the company not the people! So if you ever harassed or made uncomfortable in the work place, good chance they keep that worker and provide an anxious, uncomfortable work environment.
