Do not work here
|
The atmosphere is like high school. You can hear people whispering about other people on the team. They take people who are terrible employees and make them team leads because they are friends with the bosses family. Major favoritism when it comes to annual reviews. They don’t care what’s happening in your life unless you are a favorite then they will let you do whatever you want.

Location is ideal.

Good pay and benefits

Good pay and benefits. Management isn't the greatest. Play favorites and don't hold employees accountable. Small plant so room for advancement is few and far between

Laid-back and easy job
|
I've been working part-time while in college.
The job pays pretty well and has been really flexible with my school schedule. There is a bit of a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it the work is pretty easy.

Loved it!

Great place to work. Awesome environment. A lot to learn, but people are helpful along the way as you learn. Great benefits such as tuition reimbursement.

Management is terrible
|
Management is terrible, unqualified people in positions they should not be in. They do not make any Decisions just blame HR in Jackson. We make $10.00 less an hour than the same job for Consumers Energy.

Great customer service experience for entry level
|
I will say i did gain customer service skills here, I will be honest though and express that management is very poor here. Management executes and runs things poorly such as, bad communication, egos, lack of knowledge of department procedures. I feel like alot of families tend to work here as well and favoritism is a big thing here.

Hostile work environment
|
All I can say no one in the department holds accountability and transparency. Some people on the team don't even work, they sit around with their chair facing other coworkers just talking, goofing off and avoiding phone calls. Management allows it because they're either best friends on the floor or hangout outside of the work place, but then hold others employees to a certain work standard. There is so much favoritism, management will lie to your face about other employees getting raises and promotions, until you escalate your grievances to HR, to get the truth. In the collections department, they encourage and award unethical practices for managements personal gain to get high bonus payouts. The VP of collections does not have her hand in any of the training's, so if there is compliance violations, or complaints by the consumer, it's put on the employees or the team leaders and will affect your annual review. There is no close door policy, management will talk about your business amongst the team to create a negative morale on the floor. If the team is not hitting the charge-off numbers, it's frown upon if you leave work early and don't stay until the numbers are met. The only time the VP in collections is involved and in high spirits with the team is when the goals are being met. If the numbers are not met, she will not speak to any of her employees and everyone can feel the tension on the floor. Management has spy's on the floor. I wouldn't tell anyone your business. Keep to yourself because anything that management hears anything about you, will be use against you on your annual review. Four people were fired on the floor for the same violation due to practices that were encourage by management. All I can say, management does not have their employees best interest at heart. If you work in the banking industry and don't want a SAR violation to go your employment record, I would stay far far away from this Company. The reason I left company was because the evidence that I presented to HR/ Compliance Officer at their parent company CMS, and documentation I had held a lot of validity to support my concerns, which forced the Compliance officer to fly down to SLC to address the grievances face to face . I felt like the four people were wrongfully terminated due practices that were awarded and encourage by management .. The compliance officer flew down to SLC office to conduct interviews with certain employees to see if their grievances aligned with mine, which they did because people openly communicated with me about their fears of being fired because of what management was allowing the collectors to do on the floor . The compliance officer then threatened me for discussing any unethical concerns with other employees on the floor, which nothing states you can't in their employee handbook, but the handbook states they have an open door policy to address any ethics issues. The reason why I was threaten is because management painted a picture to HR/ Compliance as if I was causing a negative morale by encouraging other employees to file a complaint, which was not true... I know they were fearful of me presenting my evidence to the FDIC and didn't want a wrongful termination lawsuit to come back on them. Then they permanently transferred a Compliance/Security Officer from CMS to keep an eye over the Company due to the unethical practices that were going on in the department.
