nyse:crs https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=133 Feb 10th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open Carpenter Technology Production Specialist Clearwater, FL Most Misogynistic Place I Have Ever Worked The pay is somewhat decent. Terribly misogynistic work culture with a real "Men's Club" kind of attitude. Folk are put into a spot where they either need to put themselves in harms way or be yelled at for not meeting the un-realistic production standards set by profit driven suits who never worked and honest day in their lives more oft than not. They bleed talent here and it's not because 'the work is hard" or "folk just don't want to work" or even "this job is dirty". They bleed talent because they waste money on lavish award ceremonies no one wants to attend because the same 10 folk always "win" and then when they get back from this "vacation" they get yelled at for missing work or get put into a position where they have to spend 90% of their time on work, forcing them to sacrifice their health and wellbeing for the sake of "making the board happy". And don't get me started on the lack of expedience on maintaining anything that doesn't clearly increase profits or sate the ego of someone in a position they don't really deserve. There are machines here that had been "down for service" for a whole year or machines that are leaking grease and slurry that had to be jury-rigged almost daily so as to not make TOO much of a mess. If you enjoyed how things were in the 70's and 80's, especially the toilets, industrial machines, and dust, then this is a great place to work but if you like yourself and keeping you sanity I highly suggest looking elsewhere. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 133 Open To the CEO and all who may have the ability to enact REAL change. In today's dynamic work environment, the call for change has never been louder. As a former employee who dedicated a year to a company, I witnessed firsthand the challenges that can arise in the workplace, from gender-based discrimination to stress-inducing work conditions. I aim to shed light on the importance of reducing misogyny, alleviating employee stress, improving work-life balance, and embracing environmental responsibility, all while emphasizing inclusivity and safety. Reducing Gender-based Discrimination in the Workplace: Creating a workplace free from gender-based discrimination is not just a moral imperative but a strategic move towards a healthier, more productive work environment. To reduce gender-based discrimination, companies must prioritize diversity and inclusion training programs, implement transparent reporting mechanisms for harassment, and actively promote a culture of respect. By fostering an environment that values each employee's unique contributions, companies can break down barriers and create a workplace where everyone feels heard and respected. An important thing to note here is that putting these systems in place is not in and of itself a solution. Having these kinds of systems in place, training team leadership on these systems, AND ensuring that there is trust in these systems is how you create an actual solution to the problem. Without this trust, no one will utilize the service offered even if they are given on a silver platter. Alleviating Employee Stress: Stress is an inevitable part of the modern workplace, but its impact can be mitigated through thoughtful policies and initiatives. Companies should consider flexible work hours, remote work options, and the addition of mental health resources to the standard benefit packages. Providing employees with the tools they need to manage stress, such as wellness programs, counseling services, and regular check-ins, can create a supportive atmosphere that encourages well-being. Another way to help reduce stress in the workplace is eliminating the “Old Boys Club” mentality to has permeated its way through this company. There is a clear bias toward keeping the bosses happy at all costs and it leads to team members being more focused on making their supervisors happy instead of keeping themselves safe, this can have a vastly negative impact on not only one's physical health but mental health as well. By replacing this old way with a new more inclusive way we can cut one source of stress from the equation entirely. Improving Work-Life Balance: Balancing professional and personal life is an ongoing struggle for many employees. To address this, companies should establish clear boundaries regarding working hours, encourage employees to take breaks and promote a culture that respects personal time. Offering remote work options and flexible scheduling can empower employees to better manage their responsibilities, leading to improved work-life balance and increased job satisfaction. Not to mention the economic and ecological benefits of reducing office space, and with the elimination of the need for office workspace on most sites, there would be more room to create better break rooms that offer a larger source of stress-reducing amenities for each site team. Embracing Inclusivity and Safety: Inclusivity and safety go hand in hand. Companies should prioritize creating a diverse and welcoming workplace where every employee, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background, feels valued and included. Establishing anti-discrimination policies, implementing regular diversity training, and fostering an open dialogue can contribute to building a culture of inclusivity. Moreover, safety measures should not only address physical hazards but also extend to psychological safety, ensuring employees feel secure in expressing their thoughts and concerns without fear of retribution. Reducing Environmental Impact: Environmental responsibility is no longer an option but a necessity. Companies need to take meaningful steps towards sustainability by implementing eco-friendly practices such as recycling programs, energy-efficient technology, and reducing unnecessary waste. Encouraging employees to adopt sustainable habits, like using public transportation or carpooling, can also contribute to a greener workplace but never let the focus fall away from the company's responsibility for its impacts. By prioritizing environmental responsibility, companies not only benefit the planet but also align with the values of socially conscious employees. Conclusion: As someone who has experienced the dynamics of the workplace firsthand, I am hopeful that companies can create positive change by focusing on reducing misogyny, alleviating employee stress, improving work-life balance, and embracing environmental responsibility. By prioritizing inclusivity and safety, organizations can foster a workplace culture that not only attracts top talent but also retains and nurtures a diverse and satisfied workforce. It is my sincere hope that companies, like yourself, will heed this call for change and commit to building a workplace that values the well-being of its employees and the world we all share. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Open Feb 12th, 2024 11:58AM Feb 12th, 2024 11:58AM Carpenter Technology Basic Materials Industrial Metals
