Cvs doesn't properly train their employees nor do they provide you the resources. The pharmacists are hit or miss with level of professionalism. They don't give you your breaks and you get looked at a certain way for taking your 30 minute lunch. I understand a place being busy but when you bring someone in to learn you should teach them. They find what your good at and they leave you on that. If you ask to move around you will essentially be told no. This has been one of the worst places to work in my experience. The only decent thing is the pay. There is no clear path for ANYTHING, mentors are rude and ugly to everyone, the support is not there if you’re struggling on a call. This is a job that has about a year learning curve. When you finally have the courage to ask a question to a mentor, they almost always respond in a condescending tone or refer you back to your “resources” even if you already reviewed them and need help understanding something. The way to reach out for help is through this huge chat room where everyone is typing questions and answers left and right. You cannot get up to even use the bathroom unless it’s your break. Calls are back to back majority of the time and can be 1-1.5 hours long each. Claims are almost always processed incorrectly or with some error and they make figuring out what the issue is almost impossible. There is no clear communication path with customer service and claims department but yet CSR’s are expected to explain everything going on with a claim. The claims processors add weird internal jargon on the claim notes and the CSR is expected to “figure it out” even though it’s not something you were taught in training. About the training, it’s brutal and 6 months long and even then you are NOT prepared for when you start taking calls. Oh and that retention bonus? Don’t expect to see it. As a CSR, you will be quoting medical benefits, dental, vision, pharmacy, behavioral health, reading and reviewing claims, researching payments/claim reimbursements, imaging/uploading documents and the list goes on. I would recommend, if applying for CVS health, to research what company of CVS health you are applying to. Not to mention the push on selling carepasses to customers under shady schemes ( IE - selling to elderly people this program but not explaining in detail that it charges them every month and just explaining that they’ll get $10 off every month no matter what ) when it’s a broken program anyways.
