Absolutely awful company

As the store manager the only thing that is somewhat fair is the pay. But when you break it down into 68-hour work weeks for the salary, Im making about $8 an hour. Definitely slave labor wages. But they are based in the South. Go figure.

Absolutely everything. No company discounts. No employee discounts. No time for home, family, activities, hobbies, sleep. Absolutely no confidence in performing, constant reminders during conference calls of issues that could only be fixed by corporate but being blamed on store managers. Micromanaging to a degree that you can get anything done.

Run for the Hills! The 54k+ salary sounds great until you figure out what your hourly rate is. They require a minimum of 48 hours per week (expect to be there closer to 60) when you break it down that's less than $20 per hour. Also expect to work a lot by yourself. Enjoy working until you die or until you have a nervous breakdown or three. Save your health and sanity and steer clear!

You'll probably get hired because the turnover rate of this company is very high.

We are underpaid, overworked and not appreciated.
My direct manager is amazing, but living up to what is required of her and us is flat impossible.
Dollar generals everywhere are losing employees at a fast rate because they don't give us enough hours to spread out between employees to get the jobs done that they want us to get done in the time frame they need us to get them done in.
They keep us under 30 hours so they don't have to provide insurance.
DG sends us what to do. Which is a huge list. Then gives us one person to do it. We need 5 people. We aren't slow workers. We are hard fast workers. We still can't get near everything done. That's why DGs everywhere are cluttered and the workers are exhausted. Several stores have had workers just walk out and quit as a whole team. My advice: Don't work for them.
