If it wasn’t for the bad environment/culture this would be a 5 star job
|
This is a great place to work if you can just focus on getting your work done and leaving. You’re either doing very little or working incredibly hard. There are high expectations for some while other employees are allowed to do the bare minimum.
The Bad:
The culture is very cut-throat and competitive for no reason as we don’t work based on commission. People will gossip and say some of the meanest things just to get a rise out of others. Cliques are very real here as well as favoritism. Some are allowed to go home early while others are told to stay and work. There is a high turnover rate of good employees leaving because it’s toxic.
There is no real sense of organization within this company either. The way things are done would change every week, leading to confusion as there was never a set system for what we should be doing.
Upper Management is really good and genuinely care about us, but I can’t say the same for some supervisors that would put their work onto those under them. No overtime is allowed.
The Good:
With all of that being said, they were also incredibly lenient no understanding that life does happen. Very pro-disability workplace and treats those with disabilities with respect. They are a wonderful corporation to work for if you are pregnant or a mother as well as they are compassionate when it comes to family matters.
Also, The food next door is good, and it was really nice that we had break rooms to buy snacks. Another pro would be that they allow 2 breaks and lunch break. Loved that we had as many breaks as we did. You were allowed to put on your music when doing paperwork organizing as well, which is such a nice thing. Safety is also #1 there as well as every employee has a badge to scan in.
For these reasons, If it wasn’t for the bad environment/culture this would easily be a 5 star job.

A good company
|
This is a very interacted industry where everyone knows everyone. Advancement can be hard to achieve but the work is flexible and upper management is approachable. There is a good work life balance and superb benefits.

The worse company to be a part of
|
The worse experience of my work history was with First American. Management does say allot but never really appreciate you as an employee. Never felt compensated for extra effort I always put in. I’m glad I left.

Micromanaged place
|
Almost every aspect of the job is micromanaged by supervisors. No room for making decisions even if that authority is in your job description. Management calls it transparency. In reality every decision has to be pre-approved.

Best company I have ever worked for! Always supported and truly love my work family!
|
I have never felt so loved and appreciated as I do here. Management is always there for all of us and is always doing things to make sure we feel appreciated. We are a Fortune 500 Company and always win the Best Workplaces for Women as well. There is always room to grow and this company makes you want to strive for more and supports growth. I love working for First American!

Stay away from Infosec
|
Terrible business unit to work for, micro management but management doesn’t know what they’re doing. Extremely high turnover rate in InfoSec making it impossible to build continuity, no set processes or tools. Stay away from InfoSec

Nope. Run.
|
Stay away. The direct division is a sweat shop, the managers are not nice, you will receive little to no training, you will more than likely get a tongue lashing from management a few times per week. I was sold on working from home, “we’re a family,” and what I thought would be equitable work. What I got was a toxic manager who talked terribly about everyone behind their backs, an absentee team lead who couldn’t keep up, and so much work I had to work 12-13 hour days. It is not worth it. If you only care about the paycheck and are single, this might work out. If you care about work-life balance, if you care about your health, if you care about fair treatment, do not tread here. Nope.
