Coaching and Performance Manager
Knoxville, TN
They run the bank as if they are only in 12 branches and not 12 states....
-Good starting pay for agents.
-Work/life balance is fine.
-Decent salary but not the most competitive for the middle managers.
-Good people work here.
-Probably ripe to be acquired. (As long as it isn't TD Bank)
-Upper management has "selective hearing" and do not hear you at all if you are lower in the pecking order. They manage "up" towards more senior leaders and not "down" to their direct reports. The status quo is never successfully challenged here. So expect narrow mindedness and snap decisions that lack proper vetting to be the norm.
-There is minimal consideration for the downstream agent's feedback or from the CPMs for that matter. They have meetings to inform you of initiatives/actions that already occurred and then try to claim that they "heard you" which at best is a joke.
-The return to the workplace initiative was idiotic for the call center. It caused massive turnover and failed to do any market analysis of comparable centers or look at workforce demographics. It was fine for the branches but made no sense for the call center.
-There is zero career growth. The CCB Admin who is three steps away from the CEO says you can move from the call center to the branch which is really the only move for a large majority of the call center employees. It is also a lateral move and not a promotion. Poor lip service to career growth and minimal action to do otherwise. A major cause of turnover.
-Training of new agents is a joke. The "Training Dept" is run by a friend of the CCB Admin who got her hired to begin with so negative feedback about the training process and their failure to offer real support also falls on deaf ears. This is another reason for higher turnover.
-The hiring process needs help as we can't even change the title of the position we are hiring for because of the inflexibility of one senior leader. Very narrow minded mentality. She thinks it's a virtual banker position which means half of our applicants think it is a remote/work from home position (It's not) so that feedback falls on deaf ears and gets shut down quickly.
- Shift bids could be better executed with a series of bingo balls in a cage. Horrible for morale and also a major driver for turnover.

I don't know if there is advice for culture that is this incredibly narrow in its openness to true feedback and run by senior leaders who are more concerned with their own personal standing. I think if they are acquired at some point the sky's the limit. But for now? The limit is the sky..

Great Skill Building, For Pay Move On
Pay is not bad for entry level in most areas, but with any real value or skill, you will want to move on after you gain what you can. They have caps and play favorites. Benefits are actually really great and something I would want to continue receiving elsewhere. Used to be an excellent level of work-life balance and remote opportunities, Offers a great many volunteer and regional group opportunities. Great employee events offered.
Moving away from remote. Does not allow advancement with remote associates. Pay caps out and not many areas for advancement in some departments. Hourly associates often make more than the supervisors. The training is inconsistent, if at all offered in most areas, and the leaders in charge of training are not equipped to be training. They offer no more knowledge than watching the already assigned presentations and cannot answer questions due to having never done the work themselves. Additionally, most who onboard, leave before they finish training due to the high stress and massive amount of information meant to be retained with little to no support after being placed on the floor or with customers. You can ask and push for additional projects and responsibilities to help you grow, however these will not be compensated and are considered volunteered only.
