Innovative culture, but lots of bureacracy

I found the data scientist I worked with to be top notch. They are quite innovative, and focused on measurable results. The business culture is a very traditional, however, and since FICO doesn't own its data for the most part (relying on banks instead) there are a lot of restrictions on its use. There is also a lot of unnecessary data wrangling.

Managers and senior execs that have survived here for years know how to play the political game and get involved in the right projects where they will get exposure, often leaving others that they are threatened by out. Also, because many people have been here for years (over 10 or 20 years in their roles), they have not kept up w/ what is going on in other workplaces. Thus many are not up to speed on the latest tech advancements, despite claiming to be AI and ML and analytics experts. One senior director couldn't even use PowerPoint or Excel at any level beyond typing words/numbers and thus always required help from external designers or other staff (and never gave them credit). The FICO score group is good, but the technology group is behind FinTechs that are much savvier, better w/ CX, UI/UX, tech, cloud and offer a true customer-first experience. For this reason, I would not recommend working here. The marketing group is also behind in terms of tech they use, as systems are not integrated making MROI not feasible, and poor customer lists make nurturing customer relationships impossible. Behind the times. HR is also a political mess. RIFs have been going on, albeit quietly. An all-white male board is also disconcerting in today's diverse workplace and tells you something about the company. Go someplace that's savvy and doing it right and appreciate talent and experience. *Note there are some great, smart people here too. But I still would not recommend for the aforementioned reasons.
