Going downhill

Currently no one has received a wage increase, yet inflation has risen. The org will prioritize hiring from the outside instead of promoting from within. A lot of work for little pay. Did I mention during my time I haven't seen a cost of living wage increase (4 years here) yet exec's receive huge bonus's and will create a "need" to hire and fill C-suite roles instead of taking care of the individual contributors. The culture is very manipulative, if you want to move up you have to do 2 jobs successfully for a year then will give you the title you've deserved for over years time. If you like wearing multiple hats, making little money and want to stay in the same role for eternity this is the place for you.

Great colleagues, horrible management
|
I can't speak for other departments, but our team was hobbled by micromanagement. We were technically the creative department, but we were never allowed to actually be creative. It was soul-crushing.
My colleagues were wonderful. And it was fun to write about apparel. Plus, the sample sales and freebies were fantastic. But I'm so glad I retired when I did. I've been freelancing since retirement, and it has been so healing to be appreciated for my skills and experience.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Be very careful working for Hanes. They say you have points to use when you need to be out, but don't let employees use those fairly. Also, I was fired over a glitch in the timeclock system. I clocked in 6 minutes early like I do everyday..it accepted me, but somehow it messed up and told them I was late. Instead of watching the security camera to confirm the truth, they just fired me Instead. Also, there is always drama. I don't usually leave bad reviews like this, but feel like I need to get the truth out there.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting fired over a lie and not being treated fairly when it comes to be able to use points, but other employees are allowed to use theirs.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I like the job itself, but it's a bunch of drama with the people.

Non productive and awful place to work, period!

Horrible work, life balance. Management deceitful, unprofessional and definitively no good leadership. Whomever is in charge of overseeing how Gear For Sports in Pharr is ran should open their eyes. Nothing stable or productive out of that company. Negativity is what they thrive in that work environment. Stay away and just apply elsewhere. Trust me, there’s better options than Gear For Sports in Pharr.

Terrible culture and I no job is safe

Beware. This place used to be a good place to work but it no longer is 1) reliable, 2) supportive, 3) growth-minded. Many managers that are in those positions are ill-equipped to actually manage people. Layoffs happened over and over in the last year. Do not work here. The only positive is if you work there and stay there, the money is good.
