Low pay, ridiculous workload.

The Hartford feels it doesn’t have to pay employees fairly and that it can rest on the strength of its brand name to undercut the market. It’s unethical and gross. Workload is insane and leadership gaslights everyone constantly about the fact that the bar is set way too high and there is no healthy way to meet it. Local leadership is extremely immature and play favorites to an excessive extent. Overall the Hartford was a wonderful place to work relative to the average company for a very long time. Sadly that is no longer the case. I have been at the Hartford for a long time and it has never been a culture like this - everyone and I mean everyone - is looking for an exit. Promises are broken and the goals are moved constantly. People that were hired for a remote role were required to come in office. Benefits and PTO got cut. Bonuses were abysmal this year despite record profits. They even charge for coffee. I wanted to retire here but no more.

Excessive micromanagement, pushing experienced adjusters out the door and replacing with new inexperienced adjusters with lower salaries. The company culture and values have shifted greatly, and the morale has gone with it. Over worked and unappreciated.

Good pay, fully remote, amazing managers who want you to succeed, good work life balance. Never work on weekends or past 5pm. Pay is very good for the insurance company arena.

Not the company it used to be

The company was very employee-focused just prior to and during the pandemic. They have since stopped providing an HSA contribution and eliminated purchased PTO. Some other benefits were increased for new employees so obviously they’d rather the more experienced (more expensive) employees with institutional knowledge leave. I’ve only been asked once in over 15 years for feedback on my manager. No skip levels - they’d rather not know if there are issues as long as work gets done.

Everything is all about numbers. You can exceed in everything and miss one number, coaching. The customer services representatives are not valued and overworked. The pay sounds good but it’s honestly not worth the mental stress of dealing with customers and micromanaging. Movement through the company is based on favoritism. The managers are never present and there is little to no help.

Do not work here. Go where you’re valued and supported. Dont be another victim of CORE. It’s all about numbers. They plan to get rid of most hires fairly quickly. Lots of favoritism.
