Pretty competitive pay for interns once you factor in overtime (manager dependent) and paid housing. They treat their interns well and its a great introduction to mining.
|
There were really no downsides. If you don't like mining you might not like the internship, but that's not Hecla's fault.

Place of Potential But Some Concerns About Middle-Senior Management

Lots of great people. Best camp food I have ever had, Safety improvements recently and reason for optimism with some more corporate intervention.
|
Some poor leadership at the middle management level. Uninspired people that just spend each rotation surviving instead of trying to improve the situation here. Awful communication between departments but that was improving before I left. Major lack of training and advancement opportunities by said middle management. No formal/informal progress reporting to speak of.
Few people spend more than a year here. Slightly to moderately underpaid by industry standards.
