During my year with the company, as an engineer fresh out of college, I had 3 different managers and was assigned 4 different mentors due to turnover or people being too busy to handle additional responsibilities. They pay very well, plus give large bonuses each year, to keep people around due to the work environment and long hours. Management at the plant level was good, aside from how overworked everyone was. The employees I worked with were usually very hard workers and wanted to do a good job, but were often given very little resources from upper management. Key production equipment was often kept running with zip ties, duct tape, and hope. Free lunch Fridays a bonus, Benefits probably some of the best in our area. Pay is pretty good as well. Work most holidays. Management has changed mentalities for the better in the last year or so. Safety regulations were pushed on us to the point of being annoying. At least we had the reassurance of knowing that we were safe. My time at James Hardie helped to open doors for me that would have otherwise remained closed. When we’re on the clock everyone gives 110%. But once the day is over, management is equally as encouraging that we go home and enjoy our time outside of work. We have daily safety reports, meetings, and regular safety classes that workers have to attend.
