Start from interns, and sometimes even people with no role related experience, having a system where the experienced and knowledge employees can pass and share their experiences with the new hires.

You have flexibility of schedule, inherit a book of clients to grow from, commission earning improves the longer you work and you have marketing materials to use with your clients.
|
If you don't live by your area, there is a lot of travel time which equals gas mileage that can't be deducted for taxes since you are an employee. If you move up in the company in management and decide to go back to agent, your earning structure starts back at new agent instead of veteran which is frustrating.

The last couple of years have been rough for the insurance industry but Kemper is adapting to the marketplace as quickly as they can.

Considering a New Career?
|
|
Kemper is a company that offers a dynamic culture, which embodies the beliefs, values, and customs, that shape the identity of a society. Kemper is a great place to work. We offer an employee recognition program, where employees are acknowledged and rewarded based on the IMPACT of their performance. The career path program allows employees grow into positions based on their passion and skill. We’re family oriented and respect the work/life balance. I’m grateful to be a part of this organization!
|
I don't have any cons about working at Kemper. Like life, nothing is perfect however I can't think of another place I'd rather work.

Senior Manager

High turnover, unrealistic expectations, unappreciated workers, low raises
|
|
- Lots of messes to clean up, good experience
|
- Upper management seems to give different directives by individual leading to new requirements and job responsibilities every day. Work load never decreases and it always feels like I'm drowning and trying to figure out how to meet new demands.
- Upper management expects middle managers to drop everything and respond immediately to their requests, even if it means leaving during a meeting or ignoring someone while they are speaking.
- The company will do anything for its bottom line. There have been multiple lay offs and they have been scrutinizing any small expenses.
- The company offers lower salaries than the rest of the market which is why positions often stay open for a long time.
- Turnover is very high.
- Received a great performance evaluation, but did not even get a 3% raise.

Stop trying to change things every month. You are overworking your employees and not paying them enough. Everyone needs to be respected, stop expecting people to leave meetings so you can have a conversation with them. The company has been doing better, but this is not reflected in employees' salaries, though I'm sure upper management salaries are continuing to increase. You can't have a company without workers.
