Great starting point for someone who needs a 2nd chance at life.

If you're looking for a stable job this the place for you. This company will more than likely never go out of business & offer somewhat reasonable compensation for an 8hrs day. Most new hires come in through a temp service & are trained on the "framing yard" or given cleaning duties. Depending on your own work ethic & any skills you may possess that add value to the production, you could potentially be promoted to a "loader operator", "boiler operator", "treating operator", "knuckle boom operator", or "maintenance mechanic". Overall great place, with great people.

Job isn't bad but management it awful
|
The jobs at koppers are not bad to do and most are fairly easy to get the hang of and be productive. But kn the flip side the management team is what makes this Plant bad to work for. Koppers claims to care about family time outside of work, but constantly forces employees to work ot including holidays. All while management is at home with their families.
Production is constantly placed over safety and safety complaints and reports are ignored or shelved if it slows Production down.
Member of the management team regularly change the rules or "reinterpret" rules to force employees to work or get them in trouble.
All in all not good to work for.

There is plenty of work in the pole inspection division and open hours, along with some good policies on paper. Some policies that don’t seem pertinent to the division are also incorporated because they apply to the whole company, which is centralized around their mills. They’re pretty cheap on their base wages and their benefits, but I saw it coming from a mile away! RR

OK work, poor management, lots of nepotism

The work was nice and there are some decent people employed but there is a imbalance of management to workers, there is a lot of on call, not a lot of transparency with higher ups.
