I loved my time with Demand Media! They paid twice a week through paypal. You could log in and work when you wanted as long as you hit the number of hours needed for the particular project you were on. Also, no phones. Everything is done via data entry or tagging! Pay twice a week! Interesting projects. They do treat subcontractors and temps better than employees There is no plan by company, by department, or by employee. They are ok with nepotism, they print copies of art they do not pay for and do not destroy cheating the artists out of commissions, they products are overpriced and very low quality cheating customers out a good experience and product. While the pay may be better at some other companies (but it depends on your role and experience, of course), Leaf Group offers many benefits and perks to help employees feel energized and like they have a lifeline if work or something in their personal life gets too hectic. There’s a generous paid time off policy for permanent employees, relatively flexible workdays, and pre-COVID, catered lunches and snacks at least once a week. The people on my team seem like good people and everyone seems willing to help each other out. The company in former years (and under a different name) seemed more like a content mill with low standards, but for the past several years, Leaf Group has seemed committed to turning things around and upping their standards for both workplace environment and quality of content.
