Johto tosin saapuu töihin vapaammin, joten vaikka kääntäjien täytyy saapua töihin tarkalleen yhdeksältä, ei käännöstöitä rupea tulemaan kuin vasta noin kymmeneltä. Töiden määrä riippuu erittäin paljon vuoden ajasta ja johdosta, usein voi mennä lähes koko päivä ilman merkittäviä käännöstöitä, mutta ylitöitä vaativa käännöstyö ilmestyy sähköposteihin puolikuudelta. Ylitöitä jouduttiin tekemään suhteellisen usein, noin 2 tuntia viikossa, mutta ylityötunnit korvattiin lomapäivinä, joten ylityöt eivät olleet LightInTheBoxissa yhtä ikäviä kuin joissain yrityksissä. Firmamme myös käytti Kiinan valtion määräämiä viikonlopputyöpäiviä. Nämä käytännöt ovat Kiinalaisissa yrityksissä hyvin yleisiä, vaikka ei pakollisia, mutta koska suuri osa työntekijöistä on ulkomaalaisia, käytännöt aiheuttivat sen että työntekijät eivät koskaan pysynyt firmassa pitkään, tosin merkittäviä etenemismahdollisuuksia ei myöskään ollut. Työilmapiiri oli erittäin rento ja mukava, työkaverini tulivat kaikki hyvin toimeen toisiensa kanssa, ja johtoa emme käytännössä nähneet koskaan, saimme vain heiltä käännöstyöt sähköposteihin. Vaikka työhön liittyvät säännöt tuntuivat usein tarpeettomilta, niiden kautta pääsi helposti rutiiniin, jonka avulla työnteko kulki tasaisesti, ja itse työtä tosiaan ei usein ollut kovinkaan paljon. The employees are expected to cover this cost themselves. Also to pay for an agent to process it or to with great difficulty manage it themselves. That being said, I enjoyed the expats that worked there, a fun cantankerous lot that were fun to get drinks with after work, and grab lunch with during work. The management is inexperienced and terrible at managing people or developing talent. They seemed to be promoted for their ineptitude and non-threatening nature more than for actual skill. The owners/founders management style involved yelling at high volume and using expletives to get their point across. In turn, the managers that they promoted replicate this management style. The marketing and branding doesn't really have strategy or general principles or style that they follow, and as a result all the efforts are amateur at best. There is no coordination between product development and marketing, so the marketing department is always playing catch-up after the products are available for purchase. I noticed that the product department kept taking photos of the inside of the shoes, not the outside, for the product pages --- it's nearly impossible to sell a product you can't properly see --- after asking them to correct the issue I was told, sure fine...2 months later the problem wasn't corrected, and the new products all had the same issue, when I brought it up again I was told to shut-up and focus on my own work...which I couldn't do effectively, because I can't market a shoe with an inadequate - more...
