Love the ins and outs of flooring and the design aspect. However the company runs skeleton crews and there is no work life balance. Weekends off are impossible to get unless you put in PTO, and even then a lot of times PTO gets denied. There’s a laundry list of cons working for this company and only a handful of pros. Use on contractors for installation leads to wildly varying customer experiences and over billing for services. Vacation time provided is quite good however while only moderately difficult the positions will leave you mentally drained. Systems as of 2022 are being merged and departments overhauled. If you can pick up a phone, count, and handle unruly customers. This could be a great career choice. Day to day operations are very straight forward. The hardest part as a store manager is most stores run on 4 people, if 2 quit you have to work EVERYDAY until finding another employee. Pay is great even if you don’t make the monthly goals every single month. Training is given while working there. You need to be able to drive a forklift, use Microsoft excel and use the store email and SAP system. Be ready for pay that doesn't keep up with standard of living or acknowledge your seniority (seven years in position, was told if I want more pay to take a promotion to Store Manager). If you're lucky you will get a 3% 'you did a good job' raise. Last straw for me was that a new hire for an ASM1 was getting paid more, the excuse is standard of living in that area. Corporate is on a culture kick when they don't even know what they are (big box floor store or specialty retailer). Rudderless leadership, too busy patting themselves on the back over pointless training programs just to check the block and make it easier to remove you. Not open to feedback from the field that criticizes their decisions, will contact and verbally scold you over it (watched this happen in my store). Corporate is as big on promoting from the field employees but only to store manager, they hire external for regionals and above. They've also forgotten that without the field personal running the stores that there would be no reason for them to be employed. If you're willing to drink the corporate Kool-aid then it's a great place to work. After working here for about 10 months, I decided it was time to jump ship. If you are looking for a company where management is toxic yet talks about their inclusive and positive culture, please apply. This job will teach you much about flooring, different types of flooring and different applications. But it will also throw you in a world of narcissistic managers, sexist managers, and racist managers. Even if you start working here, and don't believe this review, call the integrity hotline with any concern you might have. They will not listen. They will just tell your manager that you have called the integrity hotline on them. Then you will face retaliation when there shouldn't be any retaliation. When you bring that up to your regional manager, he will say he will look into it. Once he looks into it he completely forgets about it because your boss is his friend. Good luck applicant.
