Good benefits, 9/80, but not enough opportunities.
|
|
Very friendly, nice people, very professional on their job.
|
Tech's job is sometimes very challenging to meet in schedule depending on type of position. Very competitive to land an internal transfer. Seniority is very important in this company, and there are many techs with 10+ years of experience. If you are recent grad who wants to start as a tech and looking for advanced position look elsewhere.

use military training and experience and stay affiliated with professional soldiers and to recruit and train the future officers of the US Army
|
- once hired, the company doesn't want to even hear of you except to file time cards on-line, annual performance evaluations, and once or twice per year for supervisor visits to the job site; and they act like processing travel directed by the client agency or requests for accrued vacation time (or time off for military reserve duty) are a seriously unreasonable imposition upon them
- they extremely underpay especially for the work that is required and the conditions in which it has to be performed
- the use of subsidiaries and sub-contractors greatly complicates operations for the personnel at lateral levels from the employees to the client agency employees and service members
- the company expects employees to work regular office hours Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, plus any evening or weekend requirements, including travel time, without any additional pay nor compensatory time off, nor any consideration for those times when the client supervisor walks in at 4 pm and says that they need an eight-hour project by 7 am because of the time difference to submit it to the higher headquarters
- when the company can't fill a required position, they expect others to help fulfill the work requirements without any additional compensation nor consideration
- pay increases received during the preceding three to five years are often rescinded when the contract is re-bid
- people think that you're getting rich as a government contractor rippin' off the Army, or that you're already rich because you're retired from active duty, even if you're not receiving a pension, and if you didn't negotiate for more than the extremely low-ball initial salary offer
- there is no company provided training or professional development, other than that actually required and provided by the ROTC client, and no career advancement potential unless one can transition to an actual civil service government employment position, which was rare when I worked there
- management, supervision, and administrative roles are all filled by members of the "good ol' boy" network
- client agency personnel can have you fired just because they don't like you, such as, after three successive commanders were highly pleased with your work, the forth can decide that he or she doesn't like you, and you're out with no notice and no severance package at all
- the subcontracting situations amplify all of these cons even more

Managers and administrators need to remember that it is the workers dispersed at all the various client cites who are making the money for your pay and benefits, and treat them with the appropriate respect and appreciation that they deserve, and get out of your offices and find out what their job requirements and working conditions really are.
You might be a military contractor, but you are not a military organization. If you want to continue to act like you're the military, then provide commensurate pay and benefits to the employees, and be accountable to the military standards of ethics which you so blatantly espouse and then violate.
Specific to the CEO: You are a retired general, and therefore you are permitted to use your rank on personal correspondence, but using it in corporate documents is a violation of the ethics on which you should have been trained when you became a general. Maybe this is why you didn't get any more stars than that!

Good people, not enough pay, covid not handled well
|
|
Great people
Salary is pretty good
Very stable job - you're very unlikely to ever be fired unless you really mess up
Learning opportunities abound, especially if you are early in your career (there's a lot of work to be done)
|
The products you're working on aren't exactly ethical
The corporate culture is horrible
Tools are outdated

How Are the Negative Reviews Being Removed?
|
|
Its a paycheck. Its close to home. Every other Friday off (at a cost).
|
Nepotism. Poor (Data and Corporate) Governance. The extended work day is a challenge to parents with young kids, and creates problems when overtime is required because then, what is a long day, becomes a really long day.

Hire a Governance Professional. Develop and adhere to policies against nepotism. Promotions to mid-management positions should require both: RELEVANT educational pre-requisites and prior experience.
