I loved working there when it was just speedway, when they did the merger it became an unbearable workplace. Management expected new hires to jump in with very little training and workloads more than doubled. We were expected to put in mandatory OT every week with false promises that it would end soon. It was only a week, then a month, then two. People leaving in droves only substantiated the problem as remaining workers were expected to pick up the slack with no additional resources. Working there caused me a great deal of mental and physical stress and I would not recommend it. The pay is good but it comes at a cost.

Great starter job with advancement potential if you show up and make an average effort
|
I really enjoyed my time with Speedway as a cashier, but as an assistant manager I was expected to stay beyond my shift if others didn't show up which happened fairly often. It's difficult to be in a position where you have little input on hiring decisions, but then endure the fallout of poor ones. The benefits were great and I enjoyed working with the public in a fast paced environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The atmosphere, working with the employees and store manager. There was always laughter about something. I honestly miss working there and wish I could go back. I was an assistant manager there. Amazing workplace all around.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Honestly nothing was stressful to me. Everything felt organized.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing, very diverse culture for sure.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In the morning doing paperwork/ lortery scan, make sure the drawers weren’t too off, certain you would have shipment. Putting back stock up. Cashiering. Helping others. Customer service.

It’s not the best place to work but if you need money that is the one easiest job to get is at Speedway the only negative thing is is they expect you to give up your entire life and dedicated all the Speedway that’s why I’m currently looking for new employment

Fast paced and you don't get breaks

Lots of people, angry and normal. Constantly coming in and out
How to deal with rude customers.
Managment was mostly not good, but a couple managers were good.
Lots of rude customers and some employees were also pretty terrible. Happens a lot, even got verbally harassed most of the time working there. By coworkers and customers.
Hardest part was when you had to stay on register alone when there was so many people in the store at one time. Depending on your store sometimes your coworkers will not help you.
I made a couple friends but that's it, the Speedway I worked at was not pleasant.
