The demand on store managers is over the top, they expect managers who is salary to work double shifts, they put profit over their staffs well being
|
Store managers are overloaded and overwhelmed. A typical day at Murphy's as a store manager is working double shifts with no extra pay, do all these reports and run register at the same time. Management all they care about is keeping the stores fully staffed and opened.

Easy job, extremely fast paced, no work life balance

What you do most is stand at the register and take care of customers. You are left alone for most of your shift, if not all if it. It’s very stressful when the gas pumps keep going down, you run out of gas to sell, and the technology used to run the register and payment system is horrible. That’s the hardest part is dealing with unhappy or angry customers when none of the problems are something you can fix. Once you reach a certain point in your career, there’s no room for advancement. There is always a reason why a promotion just can’t happen this year. For the problems and obstacles you face, the salary is way under your worth. You do work with some really great people, and I can only say wonderful things about my direct manager. It’s the company policies and there way of handling issues, no work life balance, and feeling stuck in my current position that has helped me make the decision of finding a new job at another company.

The only 2 co-workers that are there with me are amazing

Dealing with all rude people and all the homeless people who beg our customers for money. Our facility is so small and our items are outside

There's only myself & 2 other ladies that work at this location and we get along great.

Hectic and very busy. Some customers are great

The turnover is high for cashiers but the job is easy and laid back if you do what is expected of you. Schedule is flexible. Benefits available. Plenty of opportunity to move up because most promotions come from within.

This is a very busy environment. It is face paced most of time.

Both are fine. We have men and women. The work environment is at times extremely busy and you deal with all types of individuals

Depending on what shift, you usually start out very busy, you deal with customers and issues that arise.

Fine place to work.

The job is fairly easy if you've had cashier experience. Can be fast paced at times. Plenty to do to keep busy. Pretty flexible with notice. Mgmt is nice. People are friendly. The hardest part is when there's equipment failures. The most enjoyable part is that we have many repeat customers so you get to know them.

Computer work and trying to figure out where my shortage are and I got fired for sitting in a chair bc I have lupus and fibromyalgia and I was in a flair up and couldn’t stand that well but I still showed up to work every day

The company lacks respect for their employees. There is no work/life balance for managers.

Several hours alone, leaving you open to theft and other issues. Too many tasks to complete in the little time you have with another person in the building.
