A place where any mistake can cost you any chance of pay, promotion, or even your employment. Toxic work environments under bad managers can often take months to feel heard or assisted. NATURAL GROCERS IS ONE OF THE WORST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COMPANY THAT OFFERS WORK LIFE BALANCE OR THAT UNDERSTANDS THAT YOU HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO WORK IN A MANAGEMENT ROLE. AS A MANAGER YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A 5 WEEK TRAINING IN DENVER. WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD BE A REALLY GREAT OPPORTUNITY. HOWEVER, YOU ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO DEDICATE YOUR ENTIRE SCHEDULE TO SUPPORTING THE STORE PRIOR TO LEAVING FOR TRAINING WHICH GIVES YOU ZERO TIME TO PLAN/PACK FOR THE TRAINING AND UPPER MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE. IF YOU ARE HONEST ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL WHEN ASKED ANYTHING, YOU WILL BE FORCED OUT. THEY DEFINITELY DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR THE TRUTH. Now your own specific work tasks fall behind and you get reprimanded for something you have no control over. Management: Store level management is there essentially to try and keep all the store level employees from leaving because they know store level employees not at the managerial level are making crumbs in terms of pay, and get terrible benefits (if they’re getting benefits at all). Management at the store level will tell you to do something, and then corporate office will punish you for doing what you were told to do, and your store managers are going to throw you under the bus to protect themselves. From the bottom of my heart, please go work for somewhere else that deserves and respects your time. nyse:ngvc https://www.indeed.com/cmp/natural-grocers/reviews Mar 20th, 2024 04:01PM Open Open Open Natural Grocers Crew Member Gunnison, CO Lack of communication between managers causes extreme confusion for lower-level employees Typical day: walk in, greet employees as you enter, clock in once on paper and once on a computer, recieve contradictory instructions from the next 5 people you encounter, however you decide to prioritize these tasks is incorrect, get pulled from all of that work to stand behind a register because somebody else is taking a break, stay on that register for the next 3 hours, get criticized for leaving work unfinished, get talked over and belittled by the notoriously rude general manager for being slow, clock out, go home, do the same thing again the next day. I learned I'm not cut out for the corporate grocery world. Management, I have no kind words. Workplace culture, cliquey. Department heads all blame problems on eachother and fight over who gets which "Good4u" laborer. Hardest part of the job, meeting expectations set by somebody in a different county which are filtered through a frankly mean individual. Most enjoyable part of the job, commiserating and chatting about the outside world with lower-level employees, discounts on high quality groceries, and the satisfaction of a freshly stocked & faced/conditioned aisle. I'm no-call/no-showing my job today, and I have the intention of reaching out to the location's regional manager about my experience at NG. I hope this is helpful for somebody. Microwave in the break room stinks but it works sometimes! Things are always changing especially at my store and its store management, as well as regionals, new managers means new rules and schedules. It’s an overall positive place and company to work for there is great perks. As with any retail you have to be flexible and adapt to business needs. But overall all we have great benefits and it’s appreciated having paid nutritional education and this company does care for its employees. But there is a such thing as taking it too far and giving a lot of chances though is that it’s a long process for bad lazy workers/managers to be removed.
