Most of the people were positive to work with. Poor executive leadership decisions caused the executive team to make a knee-jerk decision that cost a large amount of corporate personnel to be laid off, as well as shutting down a facility in a small community and putting an additional 200 people out of work. The plant they decided to shut down had been in operation in that community for decades, it is a significant community blow. Instead of committing to a lean year or two in regards to revenue, they'll now be losing even more money by reselling their refinery's raw materials at a loss, as well as having to outsource to their direct competitors other materials for their derivatives production because of this bad decision (all of this information can be found in their recent financial reporting). It doesn't bode well for the future of Ingevity. The morale of employees left at other sites is pessimistic, for obvious reasons. Additionally, my experience had me working multiple roles for over two years without fair compensation (somewhat my fault, I agree). I am grateful for the skills I learned there in balancing those dual roles, but it didn't inspire much confidence in my direct leadership. The majority of the people at the R&D site are nice and fun to work with. Dealing with the plants on the Performance Material side is impossible.
