401K not bad and since no one paid attention to detail could possibly do sub par work.
|
I spent a few years at NJR (one of their subsidiaries). Was tasked with designing, maintaining, and corrective actions on a system that was a huge chunk of infrastructure without proper support. Meaning I was by myself, asked for support and was told "these are the cards dealt" Project team did not know what the needs really should be and after ridiculous change order costs about 40% of concerns addressed. Told, can not do anything about it we will have to correct with our own operational budget. Could not get away quick enough.

It was a great place to work for until new leadership took over. Now people are dropping like flies to go to other companies with better work Life balance and pay.

Lots of politics and favoritism. Some people are held back on purpose. No room for growth. Poor Leadership.

utility company, job stability, decent health insurance, when I first started the job had a lot of promise, I had a great boss she retired and the new manager was inexperienced in the field and relied heavily on everyone else to do everything

pension stopped being offered over 10 years ago, a lot of employees have been there for 25 years plus and don't always mix the best with newer employees, change is slow to come and is always a mess when it does, a lot of company politics, office gossip, management doesn't listen and would rather lose employees instead of looking at the bigger picture and listening to employees, if you go to HR they do not assist they are there just to cover themselves and upper management's bad decisions, upper management plays favorites and makes it known throughout the departments and company

Human Resources-actually do something to resolve and understand the employees who come to you, look at the bigger picture for the department and company not the short term...and stop fostering the culture of favoriting people, and taking gossip in to consideration
Upper management- stop trying to change everything so drastically without understanding what it entails and the day to day tasks of what would be required vs what is being done, how it would transition etc. Stop making rash and poor hiring mistakes and blaming it on the people before and blindly defending a bad manager. Stop fostering a culture where your favorites are known, people are constantly being railroaded, and really the toxic work environment can no longer be covered up by amazing benefits since the pension is no longer offered but a lot of people still there do have the pension and can contribute still so them leaving won't happen so they don't care how toxic it is vs new employees who don't have a reason to stick around when its toxic
