Horrible upper management
|
They do not care about you. They only care about your KPIs. Upper Managers will lie and throw you under bus to save their own butt. Be careful if you make to much because you will be first to go.
You receive no good training.
The pricing for customers is so outrageous and raises at 4 months .. so your occupancy will never go above 85.
|
Other PMs will often step in to help you
|
No support. HR wont answer you. They will fire you for anything.

Toxic work environment
|
A typical work day consisted of Teams meetings, responding to break-ins at my properties, trying to get facility maintenence issues approved (much less actually fixed), helping my PM's fix glitches in our PMS software, SSM. Visiting and auditing stores, managing 15+ employees at 15 locations spread out through all of North Texas, returning irate tenant calls and working all hours as well as being on call 24/7.
I learned how to multi-task and lead a team. I also learned how to deal with disappointment as the customers are the life blood of any company but were treated with indifference by many leaders. The company values of compassion, humility, integrity and accountability helped make me a better employee and person; it's a shame many of the company leaders talked it but did nit walk it. The hardest part of the job was pulling the knife out of your back after leadership through you under a bus. The most enjoyable part was helping my property managers grow into their roles and personally.

Healthcare as long as Area Manager or above

Horrid facilities, online programs that never worked consistently, lack of work/life balance and many of the newly hired corporate know it alls.

You Should Look Elsewhere
|
The actual job itself is easy enough, sometimes tenants are rude but it is what it is.
The main problem here is corporate. They expect everybody at the bottom (assistant property managers, property managers and area managers) to be a perfect example of their “core values” but every one above and in corporate isn’t held to the same standard.
There’s little to no work life balance, we’re all expected to rearrange our lives for this job.
If you question something, you’re gone.
Treats their employees that have been here for 10+ years like absolute garbage.
When Oregon passed the paid sick time law, they took away almost all of our PTO. I have 2 days of paid time off after being here for 2 years.
Very little room for growth, unless you’re open to moving to another area.
Most of the area managers are really awesome, so that’s nice but anyone above that position, doesn’t care about you.
Definitely don’t accept the onsite apartment, because then they’ve got you trapped for good and you’ll just have to take whatever they throw at your feet and be grateful for it.
If the issues were fixed in the higher ups and corporate, this would be a great job but I just don’t ever see that happening so good luck if you decide to peruse a job here. Turnover is high for a reason.

Worst company I have ever worked for
|
Company is ran by unprofessional HR department. They don't follow local regulations. Don't handle benefits properly. They don't care if you have a unsafe or unprofessional work environment. The constant lack of taking care of customers and rent increases make for hostile work environment. You'll not be paid equal fairly here and always have your job and livelyhood dangled over your head.

Employees/ Future Employees Beware
|
If you’re a new hire - don’t drink the kool-aid! HR will fill you full of how you matter etc but it’s far from the truth. If you aren’t a “yes man” or make too much you will be gone. If the top Director of Operations or the head of HR does not like you, you are gone. HR talks about things they shouldn’t (like peoples salaries), and only cares if it benefits them. There’s no room for growth for the most part, horrible communication from “leadership”, poor training program, woefully underpaid employees, and hostile work environments. Area managers and Regionals are run ragged with conference call after conference call, are micromanaged to the extreme, and expected to put in a full day’s work after working a full day. Nobody speaks up about the things going on because as soon as you do you are fired. The great management team that was in place are being ran off right and left. The team has more turnover than any company I’ve seen before. Forget about going above peoples heads to try and receive help - that just makes you a target.

I worked for NSA 6 years, never a problem until merger occurred with securecare. Main goal was to eliminate high pay employees regardless of their experience and knowledge.

The Fecal Midas Touch!
|
Quite possibly the worst I've ever worked for - not the job, the company. And no, that is not hyperbole. Seems everything they "touch" turns to, well, see: Summary. Horrendously "led" from the top down. It's not like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing - the left doesn't even know there IS a right, nor does it care. No cohesion. No input ever solicited with regard to any aspect of policy or the business "model." Ultra cheap benefit package. I honestly don't know how they stay in business - the rate of attrition has to be off the charts. Those of us trapped in remaining just lead the most miserable of existences, under a Cinderella step-mom posing as a company. Stockholders should be racing for the exits. Absolutely deplorable "culture." Seek employment elsewhere - ANYwhere!

Extremely Toxic Enviroment
|
If you want to work for a company that is run by the People Ops department then this is the place for you. They are involved in every aspect of this company.
There are maybe a handful of Area Managers and Regional managers that don't feel like they have a target on their backs. They preach Core Values of Compassion, Integrity, Accountability and Humility and are the ones that don't live by them.
You're micromanaged to death, right down to sharing your calendar so they know where you are every moment.
They add more duties to your plate at every turn. And oh my, could you have anymore meetings that are usually to let you know either what more is expected of you or what they will no longer be doing or giving you.
The turnover in this company since they merged is ridiculous, Area Manager after Area Manager and some Regionals termed at rates you can't believe.
Stores closed in all areas due to this turn over. As managers, hiring is nearly impossible as we are only allowed to hire in at ridiculous pay scales. The health insurance offered to the property managers and assistant property managers is awful and unheard of by most healthcare facilities.
Customers suffer due to store closures and ridiculous rent increases, which means employees and Area managers have to deal with their dissatisfaction.
The lack of integrity and compassion from the executive team and those in the ivory tower is unreal. I had a senior level employee talk about a past employee in a negative manner, which made me feel very uncomfortable.

Zero trust and ruling by fear
|
This company has gotten so bad over the past year. It all starts with the HR boss that controls the company and seems to enjoy that people are always scared to lose their jobs. They don't care about people anymore like they used to a couple of years ago. All the good bosses are goneand it is so sad.
