Supervisor is clueless. Clearly doesn't have experience or knowledge in supervising people. Very unorganized. No team atmosphere. $ not worth the Portland city hassle and a supervisor who doesn't know what they're doing.

Very strong culture with a great group of people. The challenges the company face seem to strengthen the sense of commitment to moving the company in the right direction.
|
As with many large companies, sometimes things can take too long and require too many layers of approval.
The hiring function is extremely frustrating for candidates who are forced to wait forever for any response and often are left feeling unvalued even after being chosen for positions.
The HR freeze seems to extend to development of current employees, as managers feel handcuffed by HR policies that require so much process for every promotion or hire.

Continue to move the company in the right direction and do the right thing without getting paralyzed by external pressure.
NW Natural is far from the only utility with paralyzing HR requirements that seem to be the industry standard. But NW Natural will need to do things better than their competitors to recruit and retain the talent needed to get where you want to go.
