A typical day at Oxy was filled with meetings and emails. We supported the business units in my role so there was a lot of cross collaboration. I learned a lot about corporate structure and expectations. The culture there was not conducive for my personal growth. They lacked the ability to innovate which stifled my growth there Lots of amenities: lunches, discounts of gyms, great corporate packages, competitive pay. There in no leadership or guidance in the Utilities department. All the employees do is talk about each other behind their backs. If you like sitting around and not learning anything then come here. You can just leave work for your relief when they come in. The only pros are benefits are good and you never have to work hard. If you don't like to work hard come here. It's a good entry position or retirement job. Most people come and go within a few years. They are desperate for employees as it's only old people with almost 40 years of service left. Once was, and could be a great place to work. Unfair work practices brought on by unfair management team. Management promotes terrible behavior by allowing terrible employees to be terrible while spreading their workload to other great employees. What is the best part of working at the company? Oxy has a good leadership team. Some were among the best I have worked for. The company has a broad variety of assets that offers excellent experience opportunities for a midsized business. Prior employees that I knew who worked for Oxy more than 15 years ago claimed the company was "roothless" with its employees. This was absolutely not my experience with the more recent leadership team. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I was late in my career and did not experience unusual stress. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The culture tends to give employees broad responsibilities and freedom to creatively learn the job. Team structure and multidisiplinary teams provide good supervisory oversite to learn the job. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Pretty much standard stuff.
