Worst place I've ever worked.
|
What is the best part of working at the company?
People I work with are the best. We have a great team.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pretty much everything. The data is a disaster. Have to use multiple apps to do one thing. Management does not care about employees only making money
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful. Very low morale. Best people are leaving.

Pretty good place to work, stagnant promotion-wise
|
My time at PRA was great. I was able to work with many different teams within my department (IT) as well as having the ability to better myself in regards to IT certs and training. The downside which ultimately led to my leaving was the lack of opportunities to move up and on to better positions.

Not much room for growth
|
I did not enjoy my time at ProAssurance. After the company merger, I was moved to a new team that all worked remotely in other cities. I was not given an opportunity to learn.

Feel like I matter! Great experience with hiring process and recruiters. Easy and thorough interview process, culture of the company seems wonderful and there seems to be a lot of longevity. Great benefits package also and competitive starting salary.

work overload
|
This company has a horrible culture. I have no idea how anyone decides to work here for any length of time. The workload is way too much. Management is not helpful and too many managers.

A Very Honest Review
|
I have been working for ProAssurance for about a year now, and all I can really say is that this is a really good hold over job. You wont really advance your career much, because management is usually so busy with their day to day duties that they really don't have time to teach you much, or, give you actual feedback for improvement, and your duties really wont make a whole lot of sense because you will often be asked to do work that is way above your pay grade, simply because your project lead is too busy. The pay is below average, and if they can cheap out on you they absolutely will. However, the culture outside of the working environment is very warm, welcoming, understanding, and pleasant and almost makes up for the stress you can really be hammered with at times.
Overall I think I would say this company as a whole is just a good hold over job, not a great place to start your career, but also not a great place to advance your career.
Something this company really needs to improve on overall outside of my other complaints, is that it needs better separation of departments. I cannot count how many times my team specifically has run into completely foreseeable and preventable issues because an upper management member from another department manages our workflow. This company either needs to re-evaluate the department placement of positions that are micro managed by other departments, or, enforce a higher degree of separation. To be more specific about why this is often an issue, is because we as employees become disconnected from our designated management teams as this occurs over time, and also further provides a disconnection for our management team as well, making it increasing more difficult for them to provide support and guidance to us when we need it most.

Good hiring process, manageable work flows, knowledgeable senior staff

Low Pay, Stubborn Project Leads, Stressful Management, Cross Department Micro Management

Pay is not worth for the amount of work that you do. Managers are very supportive. Underwriter(s) are good at answering questions. (depends on your team tho )
