Stressful and non stop drama

This Hotel started out great. But when I took over the upper management must have thought I would be in their pocket. And when I started to not do exactly what they wanted my job was always on the line. They blamed me for everything.

Pay sucks, management and owner and bullies, front desk staff never helped.

Terrible Corporate But good Management
|
I really liked this job because of my managers and my work associates. However, the new owners are the worst people I’ve dealt with in a while. They will treat you like livestock. They will push you to you limit with rooms to clean and then tack on 20-40 more rooms at the end your shift. There’s not room for any kind of growth, in fact, the owners took away our raise advancements and replaced it with an “incentive” that’s impossible for someone to meet the requirements. I didn’t quit this job because of anything other than the truly terrible owners. If you’d like to be treated human, I would not suggest this company.

fun and fast paced, good people
|
Red Lion gave me a chance when I was trying to get clean and sober but it didn't work out. It was harder than I thought and I wasn't prepared, taking lots of smoke breaks etc. Still I would say it's a good company and my colleagues were mature and supportive.

Pros: great exercise, lunch provided, above average pay, opportunities for overtime, nice manager who worked as hard as us. Discount on rooms for friends and family. Nice Christmas parties, and incentives for advancement. Upper management (from home office) were very encouraging and enthusiastic when they came out for an employee meeting
Cons: physical work if you aren't somewhat fit it can be difficult. Short staffed at peak tourist times made for long days.

Overall Red Lion has terrible mid-management. Decisions in departments are based on "the little things" and having those little things done their way in a position that had no need for supervision! One wrong word or towel that isnt handed out precisely as ordered and you'll be looking for another job! As I recall; there was no good reason for TERMINATION RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS and knowing that "a person" being terminated was in dire need of their medical insurance at that exact time. To go looking for a reason to terminate (where there was none, just doesnt "weigh" out), is very petty mid-management.

What in the heck is even happening at this place.

Awful, Awful place to work. Management doesn't care about it's staff, management is at each other's throats, so it makes for a hostile work place. Even the men are pregnant, The atmosphere and culture of the company here is rancid. No No training what so ever, lots of gossip behind your back. If you actually clean your a dumby and officially labeled as such. Rooms are ancient and terribly cleaned. Don't go to the boss with the honest truth of what's going on, she'll tell YOU to deal with it. Even though, she's the manager. She should be the one to come up with with solutions on how to clean up her own mess. Don't even think about working here.

Very busy but also sometimes slow, thoroughly enjoyed my job but did not care for the management team and the gossip that was constantly floating around. Aside from that the flexibility of scheduling was good. Minimum wage at the one i worked at but it worked for my purposes.
