Good job/sucky management
|
I started working here straight out of high school. This is a great job for kids and younger folks that just need the extra money don’t get me wrong. Coming into this job after being in one where I’ve seen great leadership, better pay and actual opportunities to grow. This just absolutely puts sea world in the gutter. I will never understand how kids get promoted to leadership positions to be over other kids. Too much power tripping, pettiness and childlike mentality. Working there felt miserable because any amount of work you show them that out performs other, they will hold you to that standard 100% of the time. To many people not wanting to work so you have to pick up the slack then management getting after you because you are not working hard enough. I was getting paid $10 an hour and I would get off a 9 hour shift only making $90. An old timer there looked at me and asked, “now does that feel worth $90”. Next day I quit.

When working there I felt like I wasn’t cared about. Understaffed likely just to keep costs down, and cheap parts were bought causing ride issues that we had to deal with the consequences of.

Middle of the pack job
|
This job overall isn’t too hard baring for anyone however, there are some days that they require more than what your job title requires. Tons of favoritism (the only way to move up). Team members all around are NOT happy with their compensation due to the lack of resources Seaworld as a whole has. I worked with the company for 5, almost 6 years and witnessed the decline of the park first hand. With all that being said, if one is desperate for a job look no further for there isn’t much requirement to work at this place.

Co-workers are great but theres no communication from management
|
For the issues merchandise leadership go through, the pay is not worth it. I loved my co-workers but it was awful being there. Getting told we're not doing something correct, but then never showing us how to fix it. Handing us sheets of paper in binder for us to read instead of taking the time to explain it to us

Fun & enriching, but depended on your stage manager
|
I was a seasonal character performer, and luckily my experience was memorable because of my stage managers. I think the quality of your experience relies on how cooperative and understanding your stage managers are, because mine were very understanding of my school schedule and holidays as a minor and would allow me short breaks in the back room when under pressure after extended time out in the assigned area (also helped that I had a fairly comfortable costume.) However, I had heard from some coworkers that certain stage managers previously had given them a hard time, and I noticed even with mine being fairly chill, you could tell depending on who was SM-ing that day how the work day was gonna go. Additionally, there was an individual working in my area that were accused of inappropriate activity in another area of the park that were simply moved to mine, so I had to be wary of where I was. However, I do want to highlight that the entertainment management was also very kind to me and helped me out when navigating my first job.

Terrible management

I worked as a regular employee for years and it was good. Definitely underpaid. Then I became an assistant supervisor and I realized how bad management really is, not to mention I was making the same wage as regular employees even though I was AS.

Working here as a lifeguard was a lot of fun the staff made it enjoyable. The workload wasnt too much over all good experience. except the days where we would be overstaffed and they would send us home right after arriving or send us to do other jobs that didn't fall within the borders of the job title.
