Toxic Environment
Remote work and small 401k match
I recently left my position at Star Group due to the toxic work environment that prevailed within the organization. I feel compelled to share my experience here, hoping that it serves as a warning to others who may be considering joining this company. One of the most significant issues I encountered during my time at Star Group was the expectation of unpaid additional work (12 hour days, evenings, weekends, Christmas). Management constantly piled on additional work and unrealistic deadlines without providing any compensation or acknowledgment for the extra hours we put in. It was disheartening to see that our efforts were taken for granted, and it created a pervasive feeling of burnout among employees. Furthermore, the office culture fostered an environment of toxic gossip and backstabbing. Instead of promoting collaboration and mutual respect, coworkers would engage in frequent gossip sessions, spreading rumors and malicious talk about their colleagues. It was incredibly unprofessional and created a tense and hostile atmosphere in the workplace. I witnessed firsthand the negative impact this gossip had on team dynamics and productivity. Instead of working together to achieve common goals, employees were constantly on guard, suspicious of their coworkers' motives. This toxic environment not only affected morale but also hindered the overall performance of the team. Attempts to address these issues with management were met with indifference and deflection. The company seemed more interested in maintaining the status quo than in addressing the underlying problems. It was evident that employee well-being and a healthy work environment were not a priority for them. In conclusion, I would strongly caution anyone considering a position at Star Group to think twice. The prevalence of unpaid additional work and the toxic gossip culture make it an incredibly unhealthy and demoralizing place to work. I believe that individuals deserve to work in an environment that values their contributions and fosters a positive and respectful atmosphere.

toxic environment. Incompetent management, system admins that shoot from the hip, crash the system mid day then leave the mess to the help desk to take the heat. I see a new review just posted that makes me feel the need to share how much I hated working at Petro/StarGroup. I was temp to perm and quit giving 2 days notice because I didn't want the perm position. The Help Desk manager was batty crazy and management indulged her abuse. Oh, and the pay sucked. One of the lowest paying jobs I ever had as a tech.

Okay pay, remote work, some nice people and good training and nesting to start out

The company is so big but doesn't have the techs and man power they need for service. Time is watched very closely

Ok place to work
Decent Benefits, Lost of Overtime during busy season, professional workplace, remote work options, incentives to make more money, growth within the company
Repetitive scheduled breaks, Job not too flexible, must have thick skin to deal with difficult customers, isolated work even in-office, Schedules are not good at all since it's 24 hours, work on major holidays, lack of transparency when it comes to PTO
